Great Solution for Lightforce Halo Guard!

Got tired of struggling with the black elastic Halo Guard on my 170. On the way home from hunting the other night and picked up a roll of black Vet Wrap at the farm supply store for a couple bucks. Vet wrap is used for bindings/bandages on the legs, etc. of livestock. I use the white to snow camo my gun. It's great stuff, is elastisized, and sticks to itself nicely.

I wrapped about 3 layers of the Vet Wrap around the red lens of my 170 and it works perfectly! It even covers up the three
mounting clips for the red lens which give a little glare with the black, headband Halo Guard.

Yup, somebody else may have done this before but I'm pretty excited about NOT having to find my Halo Guard hanging in the last briar patch I passed through!

My partner just got a plastic flower pot from Home Depot and cut it to fit perfectly. Looks clean and works great, no to mention cheap.

Theres alot of things you can use for a guard:

clorox bottles, flower pots, pvc pipe, Plastic mayo jars, rolled tin, tar paper, black cray paper, and so on as long as its sprayed with (flat black) spray paint so theres no glare coming from the tube or extention, tar paper, cray parer....are flat black allready.....

You don't want a reflection coming from the tube, it will Reflect the light to the sides and distort the light.....

Tape is not a Recomended, becuase if your using Tape that is glueie,(duct, black electerical) the heat of the light on the housing over a period of time will turn your tape into a stickie mess also if you wanted to use it as a spot light (no Cover) your going to have to un-wrapit each time.....Everybody Hunts differently......and in different parts of the USA.....

We also have many colors for the 140/170/240 Housings
for spot lights and Driving lights

yellow for fog,haze,dust
Amber for dust,sand
Blue* for Snow,Sea Spray and Rain
Red for Hunting
Green for Hunting
Infer-red for hunting and surveillance
clear for a protcetive cover
Red and Clear in Dispersion,(170 only) for Hunting and work areas

(*Alaska is the Only state,by Law, in the United States allowed to run blue Driving lights on your on the Highway)

Even after hunting season, and rolling the head to a flood mode... you light has many uses, when the power goes out, flat tire, working in a remote location, fishing, playing light tag, finding address, and many other uses....

The portabilty and light weight, makes for a year round Lighting system for your Needs....... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif

It was AugnMike that suggested I try the flower pot. I did and it works well in the field. Here's a picture, I also attached a squeeker to the handle.

The way Dogboy uses the flower pot cover ..... will also protect the lens from scratching better .....

I like it!

Thoughts on vet wrap ....

I think there is a sticky version and one that is either not sticky or "less sticky".

I would go with "less or no sticky" and figure out more traction.

If you remember I had a black cloth on mine for a halo and it worked but I like this better. I bought a small red plastic paint bucket at Home Depot. The bottom was just about the right size to fit over the light so I cut out the bottom and painted the inside flat black. They didn't sell black buckets. The bucket walls are thin maybe about 20 thousandths. I didn't mike it I'm just guessing. It cuts pretty easy. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-006.gif
