Gruesome Hog kill

Street I shoot a lot of wild hogs or feral pigs with all kinds of guns and have shot sevral with a 243 they are hard to kill but in your 243 I would use 100gr Nos.BT. You won't blow them up there bodies are too dense. Sometimes with my 270 weatherby I will get some real good carnage /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif but a 400 pounder is hard to blow up

Shoot Long, Shoot Stright and don't MISS or don't tell anyone

Now, do you expect us to believe you saw a hog driving down the road? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

I saw a hog the other night driving down the road that went at least 250 pounds, all black and looked like a mean hog. There are a bunch of trappers here in NE Texas. I like to eat them.[/qb]

100 grains of pyrodex behind a 355grain maxi-hunter puts them down pretty good. I have shot several with this load under muzzle loader only regs. I have killed about a dozen with a 22mag. I'm talking feral hogs not chucks.

I have seen a pig put down by a 22 but that was point blank in the back of the head. I watch a 200+ pound sow take three round from a 30-30 from 100yds and keep going. My uncle told me he bounced a 38 round off the head of a boar from 25yds. That 22mag must have been a perfect shot in the bread basket. You get props from me! Darrin

Most were head shots, but not all. One of the WMA's I hunted only allowed muzzleloaders, and then started allowing rimfires as well. I started using the .22 mag for more shots because the were often in herds. CCI FMJ's did the trick. The last one I shot was a 300# boar. This sow was over 200#

Bozo's 50 might blow a small feral hog up. As far as killin a feral to eat I shot two with a 22LR last year ( shot em in the eye ) and two with a 243 killed em all dead as a door nail. Whatever you shoot em with shoot in the head no wasted meat.

I bet it would but I have yet to drag the 50lb rifle with me on a hog hunt. I have killed hogs with the LTR in 223 and Allen has also. I am a firm believer in Ballistic tip rounds and bullet placement.

The 50 was just a have to have though ;-) I would guess that the 270 Weatherby Mag does more damage with the ballistic tips on a hog then the 50 with FMJ the problem with the 50 is ammo and it is high for anything but the FMJ and that is over a 1.00 per round. I am in the process of getting a reloader and then we might drag her out on a hog. I have shot Jackrabbits with a browning 50 caliber chain gun ;-) that was neat-o

Us boyz and us's toyz. Ima gonna shoot it hopefully at some pdogs sittin ona mound. I intend to shoot the mound underneath them and watch em all go a flyin. Bozo load me up some rounds with no misses. Should see ya on the 22nd.
