So true.

ha ha ha. Yep.

You should know, Pukindog! Safe got mighty small mighty quick didnt it?

I dont know why I am building me another varmint rifle. I cant tell what the color of the inside of my safe is as it is.

Hey Blopez50 I can help out here. I have a large safe that is in a closet located in my garage. I live in PA so it gets pretty cold here in winter, hot in summer, with large fluctuations in humidity. What I do is I keep a Goldenrod running all year long, I use desiccant inside the safe, and I keep all my guns in silicone socks. Every month or so, I recharge the desiccant by placing it in my oven until it is dried out, then I put it back in the safe. I've done this for over 15 years with no problems. Make sure to use more desiccant than is recommended and you won't have any trouble.

I've had my guns in one of those steel gun cabinets for years, not great, but what I could afford at the time. This year Tractor Supply put these

36 gun Cannon safes on sale for $699.00. the sale is off right now but will probably come back. They sold out the first day here but the store gave me a rain check. I know from looking around that these are not the best that Cannon makes but I'm pretty happy with it. 650lbs, has an interior plug for a dehumidfyer.

I have had mine in an uninsulated garage for several years, we have about the same type of weather conditions you described. I have never has any moisture problems or rust in the safe, with just a rod type dehumidifier. Another vote for getting one twice as big as you think you need. I have a liberty 50 and out grew it quick. I am in the process of building a vault in the basement of my new house and it's BIG !!

Another +1 for the biggest safe you can possibly afford!!!

As you garage is not as secure as your house ..... and for combating temperature extremes, I would encourage you to wall in that safe with insulation.

A safe that is not known is the best safe of all. If theives can look in on that safe .... your security is already compromised.

A trick used these days on safes is to back a large rig up to a window and throw a log chain around it and drag it right out through the wall ...... guts feathers and all!

Nice folks ...... these thieves!

Well after someone broke into my vehicles this year I decided I needed to put the savings bonds that my kids have gotten over the years in there to keep them secure. I would hate for them to lose them because of some carelessness on my part, and greediness of others.

Whoa, not in this car. It's a glove box , and that is all that is stored in them. I sometimes slide my laptop in my gunsafe. DD-214 and other documents. They can steal the rest and they'd be doing me a favor. Can't live without my guns and my computer.

Boy ain't that the truth! 15 yrs or so ago, I thought a 33 cu ft safe would last me forever. Now looks like I need another 33 cu ft safe just to keep up with my cravying vice - THE NEED FOR MORE GUNS!

I have mine on a piece of 2" foam and a golden rod. have had no problems.
If your going to run a dehumidifier keep it on the other side of the garage, they attract the moister. I have a buddy that learned the hard way. Put his deer rifle next to one in the basement, 1year later looked like he fished it out of a lake.

Another thing to look at that I don't see mentioned is the fire rating of your safe. If you live in town the fire response is going to be quicker and a lower fire rating might fit your needs, but if you live out in BFE like me, fire rating is of the utmost importance....The closest paid fire dept from me is quite a ways....something to think about when you purchase...
