blinddog, I hate to burst you bubble, but D2 tool steel, gets soaked at 2000 deg's!

Don't forget too get some gun socks. I put them on my best guns and the one that don't get used much. They work as padding helping ward off the nicks and dings.

I have a Liberty 72"x42" 1/4. 1200 degrees for 45 min. I've been very happy. Best investment I ever made.
Like the others said, get bigger than you think you will need. I'll probably get a second one at some point. I used to go on vacation and was worried the whole time. Now my mind is at ease.
There are pros and cons to both mechanical and digital entry. I picked mechanical dial. As any of you in the electrical trade know, electrical and solid state type equipment can fail at the worst moment. I've heard some horror stories about digital entry. I think the chances are slim you would ever have a problem but I have more faith in the mechanical dial type. They are simple and reliable but slower to open of course.
My buddy is just the opposite. He has two Fort Knox safes the same size as mine with digital entry. He loves the digital and wouldn't have a mechanical dial. The digital is quicker to open usually. Changing the combo is simple too.
