Gun Safety

I started this thread and I will admit my true practices. All my pistols when not in the gun safe are ready to shoot. I have never seen or heard of a modern firearm that went off without someone or something pulling the trigger.

In my vehicle going to and from a hunting trip usually empty chamber with loaded magazine.

While hunting and using an ATV always loaded in a rack up front. That increased handling always increases the chance of an accidental discharge.

I have seen a few of these self trigger jobs that would go off when the gun is bumped and this is plain stupid. No gun should have that light of a trigger. I also had a Colt pistol that would fire if you pulled the trigger with the safety on, as soon as you disengaged the safety. These weapons are very rare though and good muzzle control solves these problems.

I have seen that persons who are the most adamant about unloading guns are the most sloppy in muzzle control.

No gun should ever be treated as if it were unloaded.

A big point in case are the little tubular 22s that when dumped from the magazine will hide a couple of rounds, load and fire without the tube in place.

I think everyone agrees that safety is of the utmost importance. I do not think that an unloaded gun is nearly as important as good muzzle control at all times.
