Gunner update

I've been working Gunner, my BMC pup from Trapper2, hard the last few weeks. Running around the ranch has really built his muscles up, for an 8 month old pup and turning out to be a good looking dog. He's been really pouring it on and figuring this game out. I called this pup in the other day that came in all happy to get the rabbit. I sicked Gunner on him and he flat caught and killed him...didn't even need the gun.

Thought I'd share...

He sure is a handsome dog!
Just look at those bright eyes just waiting to get the go ahead!

What have you been feeding him?

I have been tying Budro to the Bike handle bars and letting him pull to help keep up the muscle and stamina. I just do not have a place to run him like you do.

Man they look alike!

I can see the difference in the legs, gunner is more toned, country dog compared to city dog I guess.

Guess I am gonna have to put him on the bike pull'n 4 times a week!

They sure do look alike! I've been alternating Gunner's feed from 21% protein food one day to jackrabbits the next. All my dogs live on jackrabbit. Good source of protein and cuts the food bill in 1/2.

Of course, they get roundworm and tapeworm wormer monthly because it.

Great looking dog Tony, did you get it on video?

Hahaha...very true Jamie. No video on that hunt. Just my dog and my gun. Have a hard time doing both video and gun by myself. I did film my guided hunters this weekend and got some good video. I left Gunner at home, as I don't trust new hunter's and their guns around my dog. Called 21 coyotes in 2 days for them.

Going out this afternoon with my calling partner and Gunner to see if we can get him on another one.

The background of the first picture is a oil field location. That's a platform for a series of tall oil tanks. It's about the only form of cover out here to hide the vehicle. We park at them, then walk out to make a calling stand.

I'm really getting into using a decoy dog. Going to try my hand at coming up with my own gritty crosses. Looking very forward to my Jagd/Cur cross female puppy from Devin. Also got a lead on a 1/2 Jagd, 1/4 Cur, 1/4 Rodesian Ridgeback male pup that I will probably pick up. Already have greyhound and greyhound crosses and a pit female. Who knows what kind of cross I'll end up with when it's all over.

They'll be good when I'm done though.

With him catching and killing the coyotes it will cut WAY down on the ammo bill. That is a good looking pup you got there. Maybe one of these days I will get one. My shorthair keeps us hopping as it is. I could imagine having two dogs full of piss and vinegar.
