Why do so many people think that guns are "toys", or for "showing off with" in front of their friends?

My personal opinion...if a person doesn't know how to safely & correctly operate a weapon, then they should keep their hands off of it...until such time as they have completed a detailed & lengthy class on firearm safety, & usage.

And, adults who have firearms, should keep them locked away when not in use. Especially if children are around.


The following link is the reason for my rant.
I have no problem with a parent teaching gun safety to their kids (who are old enough to comprehend what is going on)....as long as the adult remains in TOTAL control of the situation.

it is just sad that so many of these younger guys don't show their young female friends how to properly shoot. most of my girlfriends over the years were not shooters, i started them out with low recoil stuff, then after they have mastered gun safety and proper shooting form they were allowed to shoot bigger things. and with a semi-auto i would only load 1 in the mag until i knew they were not going to drop it or point it somewhere it should be.

Big + 1. Especially in a semi. 1 round in mag till get use to it and bump up a couple. Some of that made me cringe. Helping a toddler fire a pistol is just "(insert what ever one of multiple quotes)"
