You know, I picked up a 1955 vintage M27 just a few years ago for I think $350. Actually, back when this one was made they were still called simply the .357 Magnum as they had not started using model numbers yet. It is one sweet shooting gun too. Personally, I think the 5" barrel is a great choice for double action revolvers. It was really popular at one time. Don't really understand why it is not much anymore.

If I had one, I'd just have to find a bison to test it on.

Best buy I have made was an original paratrooper M1 carbine for $35 in a pawn shop. Dumbest trade I ever made was that same carbine for a GI 1911A1 in excellent condition, 600 rounds of 45 FMJ ammo and $35.

Also passed on a chance to buy a prototype Johnson M1941 rifle ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M1941_Johnson_rifle#Prototype_nicknames ). Can't remember the price but it was reasonable; just didn't have the funds at the moment.

About 20 years ago a guy showed me an old Kreighoff drilling which had double 16ga on top of a rifle barrel,(don't remember caliber). This was without a doubt the finest rifle I had ever seen with some mighty fancy scroll work so I offered him $2000. He turned it down and two weeks later sold it to someone else for $1800 and he still had my phone number.
