Gunsmith called!!

My gunsmith called and said, "come pick it up"!! .260 Remington built on a 700 action. 25" Shilen Select Match in a #4 magnum sporter profile with a 1-8" twist. Action was fully blueprinted, custom trigger job by Neil Jones, fully bedded. Putting a leupold 4.5-14x40 VX3 side focus with the Varmint reticle. Used a Dave Kiff minimum SAMMI spec reamer. I'll post pic's when I get it. I built this gun and dedicated it to my long time huntin' buddy, Marty Tart, who passed away suddenly two days after Easter earlier this year. 58 years old is way to young to die. Had his name engraved on the bottom of the barrel so he'll be with me every time I take it out. We spent hundreds of hours together chasin' salmon in the spring and summer and coyotes in the fall and winter. Still hard to believe he's gone. I'll let you know how it shoots.

Thats a nice sounding build. And the tribute part? Thats way cool!

Looking forward to the range report!

What load you planning on? I see a 260 in my future! But, I want a light compact mountain rifle for hiking this danged hills!

Thinking 120 Bergers or maybe 123 Lapua Scenars. Should be able to get 3000+ fps and high BC should make long range very possible. Looking at H4350 or
RL19 to start with. I haven't weighed it but I'd guess
8-1/2 to 9 lbs.
