Gunsmith recommendation in Eastern MA

I'm looking for a recommendation for a gunsmith to rebarrel an M700. Rifle is a 1999 Remington M700 DM LTR 308. The barrel is shot out. I was going to use a Rock River 243, but came into a Remington 5R take off in 308. I basically need someone to inspect the existing rifle, remove the existing barrel, possibly square and blueprint action, inspect the 5R take off barrel (if acceptable), install (time, headspace, possibly touch up chamber, possibly recrown, etc).

Ideally, there is someone close by who I can take the rifle to, if not, I can ship it.

If you have no luck, and don't mind a2hr drive, Swift River Gun Works in Belchertown has a good rep.
My brother brought them a Sav 99 action, and they built a gun around it. If you find a good one in your area please share with us.

I will keep you posted. I've asked for recommendations on a few other sites and have a couple of emails/calls out. I've found machine gun smiths, plenty of pistol smiths and a guy who hand built a flintlock. I'm really looking for a modern rifle smith.

Another guy in western mass in darkhorse gunsmithing in south hadley.

I've never used them but I see the guys at USPSA events and gun shows, they do appear to be smiths for "modern guns."

Check around for reviews, thats the best way to gauge what to expect and what they're capable of.

I got a several recommendations on another site for rifle smiths in South Eastern MA. One of them was Mike Pigney in Taunton. I met with Mike today and he's going to do the work. Mike builds lots of long range tactical rifles and shoots several of his own in 1000yd. matches. He seemed to be particularly passionate about rifles, but expressed that he likes working on pistols, shotguns, doing wood stock work, and custom machining his own muzzle brakes, among other things. I'm glad to have found an accomplished rifle smith in this neck of the woods.

Dave Santurri in North Attleboro was also highly recommended. I reached out to Dave and he promptly got back to me, saying that he'd take care of it. I ended up going with Mike as he is 50% closer to me. I'd feel comfortable with either. Thanks for the recommendations.
