H450 in .270 and .243

Awhile back I ran in to a really good deal on 5 lbs of H450. I planned on using it in my .270 and .243. I know it's been discontinued for quite a few years. I did find load data in the Lee manual. My question is does anybody have any pet loads for it? I know some people stock up on powder and still have some. I'd like to find a good starting point in load development. Thank you

H450 is a great powder for heavier bullets in 30-06. I used it for 600+ yd competition behind 190 gr. SMK's for years. When I had to give up competition, had 3 eight pound jugs on hand. There was no loading data available, but I worked up a load for Dtech 243WSSM with 100 gr. bullet, so sure it would work for your .243 and the 270 is not all that different from 30-06 so you should be good to go. Have not tried it on lighter bullets.

You lucky dog!

450 is one of the very best powders for the 270 Win, find some loading data in older manuals, and close to Max load will probably be the most accurate. I used a cci 250 primer with great accuracy.

Ya done good!
