vargy, do you guys let the terriors fight the coons???? or you just let them run them and then you shoot them...
reason im asking is ive seen some coons give a few 35-45lb coonhounds a licking or two... i was just curious if those little dudes could hold their own...
man i would love to have a couple of those little bugars... sure looks like fun. (the wife would totally kick me to the barn if i brought anymore dogs on the farm..)hahahaha

These little dogs can get it done!! lb for lb if these little dogs would weigh 50 lbs the will kill a grizzly!!
I aint pulling your leg either!!
Today we had 5 coons in the attic of a old hog building!!
I had my 2 10 month old pups and Casey up there and another guy had 2 patterdales up there to!!
The first coon got close to a weak spot in the floor and all 5 dogs and coon came through and hit the floor!! It was at least a 7 ft drop!! Not one dog let go of that coon!!
We grabbed that coon as fast we could and lifted all 5 dogs right back up there and game was on again!!
I got up in there with another kid and tryed helping them so we didnt loose any of the coons!!
They had another one penned by the time i got up there and were close to the same hole!!
I was standding on the rafters so i didnt fall throu and grabbed that coon and droped him down to the floor where there was a couple more patterdales and the 5 dogs went to town on another coon!!
We ended getting 3 of the 5 coons!! 2 exscaped out the roof!!
I took last wed off and went barn hunting again!!
My 10 mounth old female located a coon in the hay!! we moved a few bales so she could get done to it!!
My 1 1/2 old female went in with her and the game was on!! It was less then a min and they had that coon near the hole again and the terriers that were on top yet grabbed that coon by the head and pulled it up on top!!
So to answer your question!! yes these little dogs can Get-r-done!!
They need a couple days off to heal up!! But if i would take them out tomarrow they would do it again!!

vargy... i love it...(ive got to get me a few of those little guys) my step father has two rat terriors that are meaner then he!! on rats and cats at the barn...
we were at the barn one evening doing the feeding and we had an old deep freeze we kept the feed in for the calfs. it just so happened that the rats had found a way into that old deep freeze somehow and were in there gorging.. my stepdad lifted the lid to find about 10-12 rats in there.. he shut the lid real slow and grabbed the rat terrior and lifted the lid and threw her in there... all he!! broke lose in that deep freeze for about 5 minutes... it was the funniest things youve ever seen to see my stepdad holding the lid down on that deep freeze with that terrior in there going to town... he opened the lid back up a few minutes later and it was a bloody mess... that little dog looked like it was grinning from ear to ear...

i would love to have a couple of those little dogs to hunt with around my house... i wouldnt get any work done thats for sure.. id probably be out hunting all the time..hahahaha..

those brindle colored dogs in the pics(were those the patterdales) the two black and white looked similiar to our rat terriors..

In the first pic the real stocky terrier is Casey!! He is 1/2 jack and 1/2 fox.
The other black and white is Ace, He is all fox.
The chocolet in Roberts right arm is Izzy, she is a patterdale owned by Aaron. The other 3 bridles are my 3 patterdales!! 2 of them are 10 months old!! Copper and Sadie!!
The other one is Babe, she is 1 1/2 years old!!
Sadie weighs in at 12 lbs, Babe is 14 lbs and Copper is 18 lbs!!
These little dogs are not like any terriers!! The dont know what back up is and can get hurt very easy on the wrong game!!
If you get one or 2 i would say get a young one and work it hard getting it to mind you good!!

as soon as i get the two beagle pups i have started running i plan on looking for a pair... i love a dog with alot of fight in them... the only problem is the patterdale breed is hard to locate in my area for some reason...
