I have to do this. Bob Hope is one of a kind and there will never be another Bob Hope. He is a very special American in almost every ex GI's heart and should be in everyone's heart. Happy 100th Birthday Mr. Hope.

Today his birthday? And made it to 100? Man, that's something. Yeah, happy birthday indeed /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

As side note that may interest you; it does me. Back in the late 19040's/ early 1950's my dad was stationed in Japan as part of the post-war occupational forces. Sometime while there, I think towards the mid-50's, Bob Hope came through with a USO tour to his base and my dad was one of the local GI's to perform on stage. He had a Gibson accoustic guitar, I think it's 1952 or 53 vintage Gibson.

Dad was playing when Bob came on stage, said "Gimme that guitar" and took it. He played a little & worked the crowd, then gave the guitar back.

So I happen to have in my possession my dad's Gibson, which traveled all over the world with him since long before I was born and was once played on stage by Bob Hope. I'm sure Bob long ago forgot it, it was just one of countless incidents to him. But my dad never forgot, it was one of the highlights of the 6 years he spent in Japan.

Yes Danny he is. I always enjoyed seeing him. Man Bob sure did see a lot in all them years. many wars and many places, and how time has changed.

Yes Danny, happy 100th bithday to Mr. Hope. He is the man.

This man is an icon and a national treasure. God love him for all he has done for our troops.

I saw Bob Hope twice while in the Army in the late 60's Once in Berlin and once in southeast asia. The man put on good shows for us and has traveled alot of miles to do it. I think he deserves the title of honary veteran he was awarded by congress. And alot of respect. Barry

Danny, I agree with you and the others. One in a million, GIs will always remember Bob as one of our own.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY SIR, MAY YOU HAVE MANY MORE IN OUR LIFE TIME.

(PS I also sent them the link of this BB for them to see our responce)

It's strange. I never cared much for Hope when I was younger. Now that I'm older I can appreciate what he has meant to the nation. We owe him a great deal. The man has certainly brightened the existence of a lot of people in far away lands, often under less than ideal situations. Thanks Mr. Hope.

Best wishes,
Cal - Montreal
