Hard Chargers

We watched this pair charge in all the way from over 1,000 yds. If the weather prediction had been correct, our downwind would have been right toward them. Thankfully and pretty much as usual, the wind was opposite the forecast and in our favor. I only played one series of howls and they just couldn't stand it. Then as they began to swing a little toward the downwind, I coaxed them a little with a social sound and that caused them to swing back toward the call. I tried to stop them before they overran us. I hit the big male hard and my partner missed the female. The old male (40 lbs.) was tough and I had to shoot him again to finish him. It helps to get on some fresh ears. We had not called this piece in about a year. Here is the video.

Thanks guys. My shooting is still off. I haven't really hit that "groove" yet this year, but at least I managed to get him killed.

Very nice!! Most of my shots feel about that close. Of course I can’t see most of them until they get that close, but that’s beside the point, 😂 Great shooting!
