Harris Bipod

In my opinion, Harris is the best for the price. If you buy a Harris get one with the center-line pivot. The solid pods are a real pain when hunting.

Bipod? I use my hunting partners shoulder(he lost a bet) /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Harris is on all of my firearms but 1 and the 1 is a Caldwell and it blows and wouldn't recommend it to anyone. The legs won't telescope without the aid of a balpeen hammer but they sure will fold up under only the weight of the rifle

That bad, huh? And they only cost like $20 less.

There are certain makes of equipment out there that I have so much faith in, that I no longer even consider other brands. Harris is one of them. They have a well deserved reputation. The new leg notch model I just bought is sweet.

My only complaint, is the tightening knob on the swivel models. You can buy an aftermarket lever now, for like $30, that takes the place of the knob. Have not used one yet, but it would seem to be more user friendly, methinks....

Yeah it's that bad. I bought it because I couldn't find a Harris sitting model anywhere locally and I'm much to impatient to order one. I found this little "jewel" at Academy and thought what the heck /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smiliesmack.gif. My hunting partner has seen me come up with some pretty creative four letter words when we are packing up to another stand. If ya think I'm lyin, i've almost taken it off of my rifle and shot it a couple of times. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/angry-smiley-055.gif Whats sad is he has the exact same model and his works flawlessly. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/angry-smiley-055.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/angry-smiley-055.gif

IMHO Harris is the only way to go. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif Still use the first one from 25 years ago. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif

Hmmm. sounds like a little QC issue. Send it in. See if they stand behind their products like I have heard so many say Harris does.

Truth be told, my tolerance for crappy equipment is pretty low. At the first collapse, that sucker would have probably got flung a few hundred yards into the woods..... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused1.gif

That is the kind of stuff that makes good equipment good. People that have owned them forever with nothing but satisfaction. And knowing that if something does happen, the company stands behind their product. Harris' are guaranteed for life....

2muchgun-- Don't mean to hijack the thread, but you mentioned that the lever for tightening the swivel feature costs $30. Here's an order I just placed today and notice item and the price that I bolded and changed the font color to red:

Items
Harris Bi-pod 9-13"; Swivel, Notched leg
Quantity: 1
Item #: HBP-SLM
Price per Item: $82.49

Pod-Loc
Quantity: 1
Item #: KMW PL
Price per Item: $21.49

Subtotal: $103.98
Shipping: $7.69

TOTAL: $111.67

Note the Pod-Loc was $21.49. The name of the fellow who invented the Pod-Loc is Terry and he has a company called KMW - Long Range Solutions and the e-mail address is: KMW308@aol.com I think he sells the Pod-Loc for around $19.00, but I think his shipping charge is somewhere around $5 to $7 (if my memory serves me right). I placed the order listed above with: Triad Tactical

I have the same model bipod listed above and the Pod-Loc accessory on my Savage 12VLP in .204 Ruger and on my newest .17 Remington. I am going to install this one on my other .17 Remington that my son uses. The old non-swivel Harris bipods are tough as nails, but without the swivel feature, I don't want to use them any longer. I think I have three or four of them around the house now. I might have to have a spring cleaning sale on them.

Thanks Silverfox. It seems like a definite upgrade, worth the money. I can't even remember where i saw the lever at right now, just remember it was $30 wherever it was. I will get one from your guy........

If you look closely, you can see the KMW pod-loc on the Harris swivel bipod...

I got it from Triad also. Definitely a worthy investment!

Yep. i'll definitely be ordering one tomorrow.

Nice rifle, it appears to be an A-5 on it. It's not a Manners, is it? Can't see the grip/forearm area good enough to tell. Gimme a couple details........

Thanks for the info on the pod lock. That is the cheapest I have seen them. I just placed an order for one through that company. I also saw the instructions to make your own, but by the time you order the different parts and pay seperate shipping, it would be worth it to me to pay a few extra dollars and just buy one without the other hassels.

Thanks for the link Brad.

Nice rifle KD. Seems you knew to go straight for the 162 A-maxes /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif

I am actually twisting up some rounds right now for my GAP 308........
