Has Anyone Tried This Johnny Stewart Caller? Made By Hunters Specialities

I had the pleasure of hunting with one of those and the man Gerald Stewart as he put it through it's paces. I think it will be a great close range call.

I have thought about this myself. Crapshoot, is it pretty loud and clear? I am not asking if it will call in preds from a mile away, but will it be good enough for when they close to maybe 100-200yds? Would be great to be able to get the sound off of you to reposition for a shot.

Actually , I believe that is what they designed it for. It is plenty loud to call coyotes from 3-400 yrds depending on terain, wind, vegitation, etc. 100-200 yrds easily in my opinion.

The Attractor can be functional in several scenarios. I personally believe it's most effective use will be as a way of attracting the Predators attention away from you as it approaches(closer range call). It will effectively allow you to have the benefit of a higher dollar remote caller without the high cost. For $50 or less you can use your primary caller to start the animal towards you from longer distances and then seal the deal by focusing their attention on a spot up to 50 yards away from you.

It can also be used from your deer bow stand to call up passing predators. It can also be used as a primary caller under ideal conditions (no wind and certain types of foilage).

It can also be used with a device currently being designed which will serve the same fuction as the Power Pro which will allow the Attractor to be used as a long range call.

GS,when will that device be available and how much $$ will it cost?

ADK, I think that they will not have it out until next year and it probably will be less than the Power Pro which would put it around $100. Don't hold me to that though. A lot of things can change in a year.

The Attractor actually can be used with the Power Pro if you have one, but the output impedance makes it very touchy as to where you have to set the volume. I do not reccommend that it be used with the Power Pro. The Power House will be matched to the Attractor.

Gerry -

How does it's volume/range compare with that of the PreyMaster?

I have a PreyMaster and coffee mug that are waiting for me to buy them a companion Nady unit so I have something lighter to carry when I don't need the volume/range of the 612. I'd be using it in hilly, wooded areas. This thread has me thinking that I just might pick up one of these first! It's certainly less expensive than a Nady!

Thanks for the info!
me!

Significantly less. The Attractor in the best of conditions will be good for a 200 to 300 yards. Combined with the to-be-developed PowerHouse (cousin of the Power Pro) it can serve as a primary remote caller.

Think about this Me. A person can use the Preymaster as their primary call to get the predator to the area and close the deal by attracting their attention to the Attractor some 50 yards away after they arrive. You get the benefit of a remote for a fraction of the price. You can carry both in one lightweight bag.

LOL!! Only two problems there, Gerry...

1) That's why I'm getting the Nady for the PreyMaster.
2) If you're like me, you never see the critters until they're on top of your call anyway! How would I know when to switch??!!??

I think I'll just get this coffee mug caller project finished first and then think about what I'm going to do next! LOL!!

Thanks for the input!
me!

Gerald, are you guys gonna make one of these so it does hog sounds.Feeding, piglet squel, hog fight would work great here in the deep south an not just for calling in yotes either.Plenty of stalk hog hunters down here might be interested

Hog calls are impossiable to find. I have one electronic mini hog call and it works even though the sounds aren't the best true to life sounding.Still works though. If JS made a Attractor Hog caller I know it would have good sounds an me and my all my hunting buddies would order one for sure! It seems like hogs are expanding all over the country the suckers breed like rabbits and hardy anything eats them in the wild around here.

HS is considering an Attractor unit for hogs. It will not have the volume or tonal quailty for real effective Hog calling over the long run. Will it get the attention of an occassional hog who is already close to it...sure.

The Attractor used through some other amplifing device will be effective as a Hog, Crow, Snow Goose or open country coyote call. HS is designing a cousin to the Power Pro which will take the audio out from the Attractor and amplify it to a usable volume for long range calling needs.

The Attractor by itself with Hog sounds will be marginal as a primary Hog caller. Yes, it will work on some hogs occassionally that might be close enough to hear it and come out of curiosity. It will not call them from longer distances.

I quess if it calls you one shootable hog it has been worth the very affordable price though.

WOW, what a cool little caller. It would work good for me also as I prefer mouth calls. then use this guy to "seal the deal" when the prey gets closer.
