Hazard a guess if this is a male or female coyote?

I'm guessing female. This is behind my house in eastern Massachusetts. A couple minutes before this video, she was whimpering in a briar patch next door. I wonder what her game was? Trying to lure the dog away? (boy would that be a mistake for her) Looking for love? Calling her palls over? Mad me and the dog were between her and our chicken coop she probably wanted to check out?

Don't anyone be jealous of my awesome mouth calling. 🤣

If you and your dog weren’t there I would say its a female and those were actual invitation howls. Not sure with this one unless that coyote was blind and couldn’t pick you out.
It definitely knew we were there. Before the video when it was in the briar patch whining, I actually called it over to within 15 yards with kiss/squeaks. It stopped when it saw me then slinked off and the dog started barking at it. Then two minutes later it was in the frozen swamp there where I filmed it. Maybe a female pup recently disbursed looking for company? I think she's not real timid because this is a suburban area. The video makes it look like there's nothing around but it's my back yard, two-acre lot. Where the coyote is standing is frozen over swamp, otherwise there'd be a cul-de-sac full of McMansions right there. There are a dozen houses within 600 feet of where I was standing. I should have made another video after because it was funny. The coyote kept up the howling, and I kept howling back and my dog kept barking, then all the dogs in the neighborhood joined it. I'm sure my neighbors hate me now.

So an urban coyote that’s probably fairly used to seeing, smelling and hearing people and dogs…. I’ll lean towards the invitation howls. Even urban coyotes have instincts. Probably just trying to find a boyfriend.

Just a guess of course?
