Helicopter Hog Hunting....

Can hardly contain myself... leaving in 5 days for a Helicopter Hog hunt outside of Austin.... My buddy gave the trip to me as a 50th Bday gift.

And one have any other suggestions on stuff to do in that area. We are only there Thurs - Sat and not flying with guns.... but sights to see, and any recommendations on BBQ joints???
 
I'm going to spend the next 8 years looking for better friends! What guns are you going to shoot? Have fun, it looks like a blast.
 
Congrats! I was lucky enough to heli hogs a few years ago out of San Antonio and I can tell you it was the most thrilling adventures I'd been on in a long while. And I'd been in small helos before. 4 of us killed 34 hogs and 2 coyotes. The floor of the choper was 1" deep in empty cases. Just remember ... dont point your barrel up! BBQ ... JMHO Franklin BBQ. Probably have to wait a while. His step by step brisket cooking instructions on line allowed me to finally smoke some fine BBQ here in the hood. Enjoy the ride...I'm sure the guide will have several go pros mounted for the action.

I think it is the most fun you can have.

My friends have a helicopter and 3 years in a row we went to Texas for 4 days. The last year we did it, we shot over 1000 hogs and several coyotes. Some days we flew over 10 hours, hot fueling, rotating out shooters.
 
Thanks for the input. Not sure the name of the outfit, he has taken care of all the arrangements. I think they have KelTek 308 bull pups, and maybe a shotgun as well....

No shooting up!!! and thanks for the heads up on the BBQ.
 
I lived in Austin for 3 years but I haven't been to visit in over 20. As far as bbq it was'nt around then but Franklins does get raving reviews. Salt lick in Driftwood ,20 miles southwest of town was(and still might be) an old standby for a short road trip through the hill country for good bbq. For live music at night check out the Continental, Broken Spoke, or Antoine's to think of a few old favorites. Oh and don't forget Austin City Limits. You can catch a goid show there if the timing is right.
