Helmet mounted thermal

Hello Folks
I was looking into purchasing a flir monocular that could be helmet mounted I see Tnvc offers the Flir Recon M24(320x240) pocket scope. And Willcox makes a mount similar to a j arm to connect to a helmet.

Have any of you folks have any experience with this device.

I am currently using a Nepvs14 mounted on my Crye precision night cap and only use a shot gun with a Aimpoint comp3 sight.
All of my hunting are around field edges and just inside the timber and I am looking to Detect Coyote,Fox that I am not seeing until they are right on top of me or they are in some shadows along wood lines.

The areas I hunt are mixed brush and open timber fields being no bigger than 200-300 yds
Most fields being on the smaller size 100 yds.
I would love to be able to scan with a Flir helmet mounted and mount my Nepvs14 on my Scatter gun.My budget would be 6,000-6,500
Any and all recommendation would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,

FLILR 640 core M-24, Wilcox adapter, Nortoros INVG mount, Team Wendy Ex-Fil helmet, works simply outstanding. You can get by with long range detection with the 320 core but the 640 core allows much better ID:

As light as a PVS-14 too:

T ,I dont think your PVS-14 will take the recoil from your 12 gauge...
I am using a similar set up as you,I have my PVS-14 helmat mounted on my tac helmat with a standard G.I.issue rhino mount,I have a Mossberg 935 set up with an Eotech and thanks to input from SkyPup and Mr.B, I have mounted a IR laser sighted for point of impact...I have had dogs come in so fast that target ID with the PVS-14 and the Eagle tach IR on my helmet allow me split second target ID,I will supliment for early spotting using the PS-32 hand held looking trough the right eye.... I love the IR laser because I really dont have to shoulder the weapon,I just put the dot on the yote and my left eye PVS-14 will pick it up for the shot...
I guees the best set up would be if you could have the FLIR on your left eye,and the PVS-14 over your right,I guess...
SkyPup,,your toys are just to cool........

Skypup I new you would have what I was thinking about Thanks.

Baystate I have ir laser but don't use it here in Ma it's not legal for coyote, fox
Thanks for pointing out my Pvs14 can't handle the recoil what if it was mounted to a day scope ?

Baystate. I hear you loud and clear with hot runners most of our hunts are fast takers you think the Epo even care if I used my laser I may give one a buzz and have a chat.
Thanks again guys

No,the recoil from a shotgun shooting dead coyote or what ever is just to much for any light gathering NV..

Your right on the IR laser.......

Welcome to the "Peoples Republik"..

Baystate
Maybe I should just go with a Ps-32 and stick with the Pvs on my melon. If you had to do it all over would you stick with the Ps-32 or maybe a different unit whats your take.
Thanks

A PS-32/Ls-64 monocular handheld thermal scanner will increase your detection 10,000%, better than anything else.

The helmet mounted FLIR thermal is very expensive and top of the line military contract gear, most likely the PS-32/LS-64 would be the way to go. I own both of these units and use them ALL the time for my scanning detection....

Skypup
I see you have the Ls-64 and I see another unit they make flir Mls-618 looks like the 2 units are similar?
I probably should wait for the shot show and pull the trigger on a 64series
Thanks again

Ok just wanted to know if anyone like myself would love to helmet mount a ls64 or ps32 and a pvs14 side by side at the same time detect with flir and flip it up and go to gun I'd with pvs and shoot your target. Is there anyone who has done such thing or am I just Pipe dreaming.I can't wait till the Shot show comes so I can stop thinking about this Thermal thing that has bit me I am hoping for a new product similar to the Ls64 then I can pull the trigger and start seeing things that my pvs is missing.

Thanks

Well you could always pull the trigger now on a current product that is similar to the LS64 but better...FLIR M18 Recon with 640 core.

Having said that, I do agree with waiting till SHOT Show 2015. I really look forward to seeing what FLIR comes out with...if anything.

Regards,

G.
