I have been looking into buying a new .22-250 rifle, however I'm on a budget and have seen these 3 that fit the bill, any other suggestions would be appreciated:

Savage Axis "all know about this rifle"

Weatherby Vangaurd Series 2-Sub MOA guarantee adjustable trigger, 24" barrel

Marlin X7VH- introduced Jan 2011, Pro-Fire® adjustable trigger system; fluted bolt,26" heavy barreled, I have yet to see one in person

I've got the Remington 700 SPS Varmint in a 22-250 and I LOVE it!
Only thing to complain about is the heavy barrel, but with the "one hole" groups it shoots I will be just fine.

I'm looking at a Axis as a second rifle, but saw the Howa deal yesterday.....now I am confused at to what I want!
Good luck!

I received a flyer a couple of weeks ago from Legacy, who is the importer for Howa and others, Anyway it appears all new Howas now come with a two stage trigger.Sounds sweet to me ,but I know lots of folks dont like a two stage trigger.

I have a vanguard and a Howa and I would say they both shoot about the same. They are both reliable for the price. I would suggest one of those.

Don't overlook a tikka t-3 they are much lighter weight and easier to carry all day then any of the guns you are looking at. They shoot amazingly well despite being light because they are well balanced. Trigger on mine adjusted down to a crisp 1 lbs 12 oz.

Budsgunshop has the best prices I know of on these. CDNN is about the only vendor that ever beats buds prices.

I dont know if you have a dicks sporting goods in your area but, they have some pretty good deals on a remington 700 varmint adl.they have camo stocks and no floor plate come with a scope I bought one in 22-250.I was planning on changing to stock but it shoots very well.I did upgrade the scope. U can up grade as you go.just a thought.

Just got a weatherby vanguard s2 in 22-250 and in 7 shots had it sighted in. It shoots 1/2 inch groups or better. And with break in I should be getting less than a 1/4 inch. Dave

wow, got some really good input on this, thanks for the help, maybe I will just have to put them all in a hat and draw, lol, if you have any others we missed keep them coming. I live near a Cabelas so I can look at almost all these guns mentioned, but may purchase elsewhere for better price.

Howa 1500 is what I shoot and I love it. Top it with a quality scope and it will consistantly shoot 1/4 inch groups at 100 yds.

While you are putting guns in a hat to draw out throw in a TC Venture. Less money than the Tikka with a way better stock, American made and laser accurate.

While the Stevens 200 will not win a beauty contest mine flat out shoots great...especially for the price!!

Hi new to this forum just like to add my 2cents Howa gets my vote also, I have two of them a Varimter Supreme in 223rem and Knox Axiom in 308win both are well made and good shooters! I did put timney triggers on both of them and Nikon Buckmasters 6x18 BDC scopes. Good Luck with your choice!

I see no one is giving the axis any props, so I will go ahead and do so now. I have had experience in two axis rifles- the 25-06 and the 223. Both are very accurate rifles. The trigger is not the best on them, but the one it has can be worked to lighten the pull and there is an aftermarket version for them.

From my experience with the axis rifles, I see no reason why one chambered in 22-250 wouldnt shoot well.

I just bought a Savage Edge .22-250. I took it to a buddy of mine and we got the trigger down to 3 lbs. I put a Nikon Coyote Special on and it shoots great. Third shot dialed in in, next two shots were all but touching. The last shot was within 1/4". I haven't shot it much since, but I'm really liking this gun. I wish I would have got into the .22-250's earlier. The stock feels really good to my hands. The barrel is factory floated. No complaints. I'm impressed with what I've got, especially for the money that I got in it. I'm a Remmy guy, but this thing has me looking at Savage a lil harder.

Hey guys, I went into wal-mart and found some good prices on guns, they even have special order available through a catalogue. They have many makes and models but not all. Their policy is 50% down and rest upon pickup. This is what I found: not all wal-marts carry firearms only the ones in rural areas do, and price varies according to area as well. I’m leaning towards Stevens due to bargain and more aftermarket goodies readily available.

Savage Axis $297
Axis Stainless $ 332
Axis XP Stainless scoped $377
Axis XP blued scoped $312
Axis Camo $319
Stevens 200 $332
Vangaurd $429
Howa 1500 scoped $589
Tc Venture Blued $456
