Help, Does anyone know what is wrong?

I've never had CHP in any of my dogs. But a hunting buddy had his male redbone get it 13 or 14 years ago . Layed him up but good. While he seemed to recover fine it did slow him down afterwards. Never seemed to hunt as fast afterwards. I never really noticed but it was early winter when it hit him.

I've got a diff idea, may or may not be, My good stud got a "bladder infection" (what are the odds?) He had the exact symptoms, you are describin. If it were my dog, I'd go to the vet for blood work.

My first thought was a back injury, didn't know about CHP. But I have also seen the same symptoms from tonsilitis. I didn't even know dogs had tonsils ; ) But the antibiotics fixed him up in two days.

Thanks fellas. I took him to the vet on Mon.they said he had a slight case of Lymes. and a couple little isues with his back. Doc. said he should be feeling better in 48-72 hours. Well it's Fri and he is still not looking any better, I guess I am leaning twords the CHP. I have been doing alot of reading on it and that is what it seems to be. He is not having trouble breathing but all the other signs are there, I dont know if a dog can get a slight case of it but thats what it seems like. I guess I will ride it out and see what happens.

No improvement from the treatment and time frame the vet gave you?
Are you going to take him back and insist on blood work?
Rick H...

They did some blood work, that is how they test for Lyme. I know they seperated his blood into two different vials, one for Lyme and one for ??? I guess I thought maybe they were checking for other stuff. I am gonna check into it.
