Well i want you guy's opinion on a new phone. Right now i have a cheap samsung slide phone. I've been basically getting the free phones that come with the plan. now i'm gonna splurge and i want to know what kind of phone you guy's recommend since we have similar interests. would like more input on military spec type's and smart phones with desired sportsman app's, keep in mind i have not owned nothing like the ones mentioned just what i've researched. Let me know all likes and dislikes.... Any response is very appreciated.

Get an iPhone and put it in an OtterBox case. Pretty much indestructable. Alot of awesome app available. The iPhone is super user friendly and easy to learn all the tricks with it.

Kenny, I'm using an HTC MyTouch as I couldn't swallow the IPhone cash outlay. If you check with a T-Mobile or Verizon shop, you can get an outstanding Droid phone (Google-base operating system) for little to nothing with a 2-year plan.

I run the Google Earth app on my phone and can scout for promising locations on my phone in the field as the screen detail is that good. There are probably better satellite apps out there, but I've been okay using Google Earth so far.

I'm sure you'd be happy with either an IPhone or Droid platform as they are high quality - it just depends on how much up-front money you want to drop.

Oh - one other benefit with these phones - you can read and post on PM wherever you happen to be.

iphone might be best, if you could get a signal. Standing at the flagship Apple store at Stockton and Ellis in San Francisco, my friend couldn't get a signal. How embarrassing for Apple.

Because of that incident, I picked up the HTC Droid Incredible. I have yet to not get a signal. There is a great, free, ballistics calculator app, and Google maps are second to none.

Whatever you choose, good luck with it.

I've owned a few blackberrys and a few iphones and prefer blackberrys. Iphones just don't have that great of reception but I haven't owned a iphone 4, so they may have gotten better since the 3gs iphone.

Droid. I just upgraded to a Droid Incredible 2...got me an Otter Box and insurance and am ready to go. The droid can do anything an Iphone can but not visa versa......I have been compairing my Droid to my friends Iphones and the Droid wins hands down. Plus, you dont have to deal with your PC just to activate your phone or to do upgrades.....

Man thanks for all the responses. i'm thinking i'll go with the droid. but any one have any positives for t-mobil phones? also in our secluded area we live in 4G is not available- prices we pay for living in paradise.

I got an HTC Droid Incredible for my business, and upgraded my personal phone to an LG Ally (also google droid). I have an ipod touch, and my brother has an iphone that I've played with. I think the iphone is more speedy and stable, but apple products don't often play well with others. I think the android is a frontrunner operating system, and will prove itself to be the leader soon.

I like the Incredible over the LG for operating speed, might just be the individual phone - not sure, but the LG is doing fine now that I took off several unused apps, and my short fat fingers sure like the keyboard over the touch screen. (Like 1000 times better/faster for me! The touch screen is torture!) I think the Incrediible is more powerful, but I doubt I could be talked out of the keyboard now.

I got both on upgrades to my cell phone package, and as certified pre-owned, for under $50. (They're both absolutely like new.) Something to consider.

Well i ended up getting the Casio G'zOne Commando. It's basically a droid with ruggedized military specs. I'll tell you all how it goes after i play with it for a week.

Here's my review keep in mind this is my first smart phone.
This thing is just great. Downloaded some apps (My tracks, KSL classifieds, netflix, ebay, and Pandora). I think this is the best phone right now you can get for us outdoor enthusiasts. The G'z gear apps that come with it are really fun. (Earth compass, walking counter, Adventure Training trip memory, thermometer, Tides, Sun/moon, star gaser) My kids love the star gaser app. I do alot of ATV riding and all the stuff for GPSing is cool. A couple of my kids desert race ATV's and the mytracks app maps their trail along with top speeds and moving speeds and averages and i don't even need to update to a new garmin this phone does what i need. Screen is crystal clear and with the ruggedized features it still looks brand new as its dust proof, water resistant, and shock proof. Only thing is i'm still getting use to the texting part as how i've always used T9 and that doesn't come on this phone as it uses only qwerty keyboard. If your in the market for a new phone this is the one to get.

I will second the recommendation of the Casio G'Zone Commando. Get a TRAX map microSD to go in the unit and you will have public lands, and all the other needed maps right on your phone and it can do your GPS work with those maps as well. Waterproof, shockproof, phone, GPS, and more in one unit.

i have the commando and have been very happy with it. this is my first smart phone so i do not know much about the others, but i can say i am very hard on phones and this one has lived up to my expectations. i did notice a huge diffrence in battery life but i down loaded an app killer and the juice defender app and it made a huge diffrence in battery life. 3 months in and so far so good.

iphone for sure. I love siri. She sets my alarms, get direction, checks my calender, does math, sets reminder with gps coordinate alerts, send texts/emails while driving, ect.

Evo on Sprint. Bout a year now and absolutely no probs at all.

Believe you can get these free now on a 2 year.

I have had some hot phones and this one killed em all.

Never want a different one
