Help tuning jc reed.

I bought a closed reed call off of a member here selling his collection and the reed fell out. It is a metal reed that says jc on the side. It isn't a big deal but when I put it back in it sounds different now. Can someone let me know how to tune these little reeds. Thanks

Atkins,
If the reed got bent at all it is more than likely bad. The best way to tune them is with a single edge razor blade. Slip the blade under the reed until it stops.Give the reed a very SLIGHT bend. That should do it. If the reed dosn't stay in the call open the slot on the reed a little. If you can't get it to sound right let me know I'll send you a new one. Hope this helps Jim.

I think I am done! but not in a good way. I the reed is bent and I can not seem to get it back to sounding right. Jim let me know how much you want for a single reed or double. It has a single but I think I like the sound of the double reed better.
Thanks

you should of sent the call to the callmaker. that way you can get it tuned right. i super glue my reed's or what alot of guy's do is finger nail polish just a dab. wood shrink's and expand's in different climate's.Rick

Atkins,
If you don't know who the callmaker is any one of the custom call makers on here can help you if you want to do it that way. Jim

Thank you very much Jim. That is very generous of you. I am not sure who the call maker is since I recieved the call second hand. It doesn't sound terrible as is but it isn't where I would like it. Thanks for the help guys. Jim I will let you know when the reed gets here.
Thanks
