Henry lever action rifles.

I just got my first lever action rifle, a Henry in 22lr. Man what a sweet shooting little gun this is.
i was toying around with getting something new for a rimfire rifle this year and have been looking at a bunch of different options. I prefer a tube magazine and have always used bolt actions in the past for their reliability and durability.
I am realy glad I looked at the Henry selection.
I was pleasantly suprised at the smoothness of the lever action. Upon inspection the componenets appear to all be well made parts, no junk. It seems quite strong as well.
I shot 3 different kinds of ammo with different grain weights of bullets and every single one of them made nice little groups. You can't ask for much more then that.
I can definitely see myself owning more then one of these rifles in the future.
Do any of you guy's own or shoot a Henry lever gun and what is your opinions?

i have one too i love the thing sweet shooting. i shoot the ferdal bulk pack in mine.. at 50 yrds i can shoot mintune of sqirrel head easy.. first outin i laid it up on the bench to shoot and it sliped off and strached the wood up pretty goos. oh well going to get strach any ways . paid a whole 5 bucks for it

I bought one about a month ago, dont know why, I just always wanted one. Shot about 30 rounds through it one day, and now I just get it out and look at it from time to time. Neat little gun, and if I ever get back into season coon hunting hard again it will be perfect.

Any of you guys got a scope on yours?

I thought about the new Redfield 2x7x33. An American made scope on an American made rifle owned and operated by an American hunter, perfect.
The only reason I would even scope mine would be for shooting tree rats but we already have dedicated guns for that purpose. If I do it will be with a Redfield or Luepold for sure.

The only two Henrys I have picked up and looked at, had the stock way too low for me to shoot. When I put my cheek on the stock I was looking below the hammer, at least two inches below the sights. I have no use for a rifle or shotgun that I have to hold my head up off the stock to see anything.

I have a Henry carbine in .44 mag. It is a bit heavy but I don't mind at all. I hardly notice the weight. Some don't like the tube fed design. I like it. Probably my favorite gun. There will be at least one Henry rimfire in my closet soon as well.

I have a Henry in 22LR. Its a beautiful little gun. Very Very accurate with anythng I have run through it and very well made for the price. I got mine about 10 years ago. I left mine with open sites. I have a double rifle and it can get expensive shooting it, so I looked for a 22LR with open sites that closely matched my double. So I can practice all day long and not break the bank. It has worked out great for me.

Yup-I like the Henry's. I just bought a Pheasants Forever raffle ticket with a Henry Golden Boy 22 on it. I fully expect to win that gun but then again I thought I would win something last year and the year before that and before that and on and on. Oh well-good cause but I would really like to have that little rifle. Dave

Who wouldn't want one of these sweet little
rifles....I know I do.......It's on my list,
been on it awhile, I might have to move it
up a few notches...that .22 mag sounds good...

My wife bought me a Henry Golden Boy 22 Mag for Christmas last year (two years old now) and it's still sitting in the safe unfired. It's just to pretty to shoot.

I wanted to scope mine to coon hunt with, but I just cant bring myself to scope a lever action, and it does shoot well without the scope, but a coon at night with one arm holding a light is hard to hit. I may just have an excuse to go buy another gun to coon hunt with

Just had to have one..bought it..shot great..recently gave it to a nephew. EVERYONE ought to have an HEIRLOOM rifle..that's his from his Uncle Dave,LOL.

Like others I thought it was a handsome firearm and while I grew up.. and old... with a Marlin 39, the Henry is a fine .22.

I just shot several rounds through mine for the first time, and that thing is deadly. No scope needed. I shot a 1.25 inch group at 60 yards with cheap shells. Neat little gun for sure.

Pull off the painted receiver cover and look underneath.

They're certainly not the same quality as a Marlin 39 or even a Browning BL22 but for a relatively cheap lever 22 Henry's get the job done.

I own two of them - one in 22LR and one in 22 Mag - and they have been very serviceable. Both have the octagon barrel with the better front sight. The 22 Mag is the Golden Boy version.

They are pretty well made and both have a very smooth action, but they do not compare equally either to a couple of Winchester 9422's that I own.

But the price of a Henry is not close to what the 9422's are now worth either. For what I bought them for and for what I paid for each of them, they have worked very well.

I had one in .22 mag, just the standard model. Seemed to shoot ok but the barrel band was plastic along with the front sight post. I ended up scratching the back stock and found the wood was actually laminated with a plastic laminate that made it look fancier than it was. Don't know about the Golden Boy, but the one I had I was not very impressed.
