I am a lever gun guy. I just like them. I do not have any of the Henry rifles, except for an original copy by Cimmarron. I am talking about the new ones. I have never seen one in person, I am wondering how they are as far as quality and such.
Anyone have experience with them? Fit, finish, accuracy, reliability etc...

Several years ago I bought a new 17 hmr Henry hoping for a beautiful and accurate rimfire. It was beautiful, I'll give it that. Not nearly accurate enough for a 17. I have a post here about it.

I tried everything I could minus finding every kind of ammo under the sun. 3 to 4" groups at 100 isn't good enough even for a pretty gun.

I think a lot of older guys with experience with Winchester, Marlin, Savage and Browning levers tend to not like the Henry rifles much. I'm in that group. Younger guys with less experience with the old classic rifles seem to like the Henry. Henry's are available and more common and that is what the newer market gets used to and accepts.

I am a young guy that despises them. Continuously unimpressed by the actions and fit and finish. Just feels cheap. I still dont understand their thought process on building an "all weather" rifle using painted wood with a smooth black finish and absolutely no checkering whatsoever. Their rimfires dont feel horrible but I wouldnt take a centerfire Henry over any of the other options

My Hunting Partner is always buying and trying out new and different Caliber Guns and Rifles....He bought a Henry Mare's Leg .410 Lever Action Rifle that has different chokes for it.

He let Me shot it a few times and I must say it was a fun little Rifle that was accurate and kept a good tight pattern out to a good distance...I was impressed with it!

Had the Golden Boy 44mag. Never liked it. The brass kept hanging up in the action. Then i'd have to dig them out with a knife. Key word "had".

One would think that being "American made", Henry's would be
more accurate than they are, and they are expensive for factory
made rifles.

I looked into getting their pump action. Negatives were that
it takes too much muscle to operate and that they were just
not very accurate. Played with one at the LGS and could get used
to the hard "pump", but declined due to inaccuracy. Got a new
Marlin M60 instead and that little rifle is more accurate than
I could believe a semi-auto can be.
