I have gained the impression that a large amount of our members are.......what should I say........older? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused1.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif (I'm 50)

Do any of you take herbal supplements or large doses of vitamins?

I have started taking L-Arginine & Yohimbe, and I can tell a HUGE difference in the way I feel. Of course I have always taken a good multi-vitamin. I'm also taking Saw Palmetto for supposedly better prostate health.

Anyone else taking supplements that they have had good or bad experiences with?

I'm gunshy to take anything. I was a Vioxx user and had a bad brain experience. I didn't join in on the lawsuit though. That isn't my style. Now I just suffer through the pain. It isn't worth strokes and/or heartattacks.

I turn 50 in November and I have thought about doing just that. But I try to eat a well balanced diet from the four major food groups(country ham, grits, hamburgers, and fried chicken)and I get in bed on week nights by 11:30 and I don't have to get up until 4:30,so I think I may wait a while longer before starting the herbal supplements

Nibbler, I've been wondering about these supplements I've been seeing that claim to aid vision. They are being marketed in hunting magazines.

By the way, I'm 43 had slightly elevated chlorestoral, starting eating oatmeal everyday, gave up caffeine, exercising and at my last physical my doc says, "You mean diet and exercise really do work?" I take a fish oil supplement and a multi-vitamin, but I think the exercise really makes me feel the best.

BigAl, I don't have any exposure or know of anyone who has used the "vision enhancing" products. But I DO know this.......Herbal supplements have helped me and my wife, along with some of our friends. Don't think that I'm a health-food-store-junkie, but I have learned thru trial & error that some of them do work. The body goes thru changes as we age, and there are products that can and do help us feel younger. Testosterone levels fall, blood pressure ascends, brain cells die.......lots of changes going on inside us.

Anything (legal) that I can take to feel better or live a better life, I'm going to use. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I probably don't eat right, or have the best diet. But Starting in Sept. I cut down my soda intake to about none. When I go hunting all I take is bottled water to drink. here's the problem with that - most bottled water has no floride.

I'm 52, had a heart attack 5 yrs ago and have a stent. As a long haul driver/master trainer, I work a very high stress job with terrible hours, have a terrible diet, and don't exercise regularly though I do try to walk as often as possible. I frequently have the crap scared out of me (students driving) and regularly work 100hr+ a week.

Other than caffiene (lots), and unfortunately nicotine, I take daily: baby asprin, Co Q-10, a multi vitamin, separate vitamin D, B-complex, E, folic acid, selenium, turmeric, arjuna root, fish oil, and fiber.

I may be just producing the most expensive urine in the world but my normal "at rest" pulse is 64 and my blood pressure is 100/68 (was 145/85 pre heart attack). My last lipid screen was 170 total cholesteral 80LDL/90HDL (220 pre heart attack) and I ran 15 min at my last (DOT required) treadmill/stress test and only reached 90% of "target" (18min is pro athlete level).

My doctor says to keep doing what I'm doing (except smoking, LOL).

I also take bilberry extract (Vision Essentials) and have for many years. I don't know how much good it does, but I still have 20/15 vision though I do need reading glasses now (presbyopia), especially in poor lighting conditions.

I take RES-Q 1250 to lower cholesterol, brought mine down from 212 to 153 in 2.5 months, NO SIDE EFFECTS! Bad cholesterol went down, good stuff up, triglicerides way down...I take L-Arginine for artery/vein health, all the B vitamins (combination) to get rid of homocystine levels (aggravates your arteries)and saw palmetto/pumpkin seed/extract for prostate. My PSA is .6, and I'm hittin 55 in Jan. any more info PM me, you can't do it on diet alone, the soils in this country are depleted of minerals, and the crap the food manufacturers put in to preserve everything had a bad effect on all of us.

P.S. I have no monetary interests in any vitamin company, etc. Don't drink any kind of soda, and keep flouride out of your water and toothpaste, it's one deadly poison, no matter what the dentist says.......

I ordered that eye sight enhancing free samle gimic offf the hunting channel. My mom works in a pharmacy and I had to check out the ingredients. She said it dosent improve your eyesight, just preserves what you have left. I still have been taking the sample packets for a few weeks on and off with no known difference.
