Very nice looking mounts. I just got mine back from this past May '04 from Trans African Taxidermy. They turned out great too. Africa is quite addicting. I'm going back this coming May for my honeymoon/hunt. I took a 52" kudu, black wildebeest, 2 springboks, and 2 warthogs. I have my sights set on a gemsbok, blue wildebeest, red hartebeest, impala and a waterbuck. So many animals...so little money. Congrats.

LOL i hear ya were going back in 06. I will be going after warthog, Sable, bushbuck, black wildebeest, and what ever else i have money for /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Man, those are some nice mounts. That oryx is especially nice - what did he measure?

I hunted Namibia last June and had a grand time. I'm scheduled to do a little predatory/varmint hunting with PM's own Lochi Lochner this August. I hope to sneak in a blesbok and impala since I didn't kill either on my last hunt.

How did you talk the wife into keeping that Baboon in the house! lol

I want to get a coyote shoulder mount with closed mouth and she's bitching!

I think I liked the Gazell (SP?) best!

Nice trophy room.

Top picture, right hand side? That's a springbuck, and a pretty nice one too.

Top picture left hand side is an impala.

Second picture is a wildebeest and some of the smaller guys (not sure which - rheebok, duiker, steenbok...).

Bottom picture is a blesbok.

It seems like you don't see many gazelles, I guess they're not a real common trophy. They're also typically located in areas that are more expensive to hunt. Maybe Lochi will float through and comment on that.

The Springbok is the only gazelle found south of the Zambezi River. The average body mass is between 30-50kg.
DesertRam the areas where Lochi do his predator hunting also have lots of Springbok as well as Blesbok.

Gerhard

That's good news, I'll be chasing a blesbok when I hunt with Lochi in a few months. I sure like those springbok, but I shot a 17 incher last year in Namibia, so I'd rather focus on predators and a couple big game animals I didn't hunt last year.

My wife won't allow me to have a baboon in the house. She says it reminds her of her mother (ie my mother in law)LOL....

Nice mounts

My Gems came in at 36 7/8

there was no if ands or buts about the baboon comen home /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif that was my fave. I had a yote mount on a pedistel but give it away for a doantion so a org could gather money to send a kid hunting.

If any of you are planning on bringing your critters back here to be mounted and you shoot warthogs or primates make sure your outfiiter, guide sends them seperate as they take much longer to clear customs. just a tip to pass on to all you who are going to africa

I was fast asleep on this posting - woke up eventually - in African time.
Biggamehunter, those all look fine man! You must have had a great time - congrats!
To add to what Cracker was saying about exporting primates: bear in mind there is also a difference in the time it takes for the Nature Conservation departments of the various provinces to process their paperwork (eg. Freestate being faster than Limpopo).

Desertram, when you come over in July, we have to improve on this benchmark! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
Lochi.

Thank you Lochi

Cracker,
I hate to debate this but there is no such thing as taking longer for your stuff to clear customs. they dont take your capes or anything out of the box they just look at the paper work as long as your taxidermist over there applies for the right permits in RSA there is no hold ups. the hold ups normally tend to be when customs or us fish and wild life finlly decide to get off there lazy a**es and go inspect the crate. i cleared all my stuff on my own they cleared it that day. I found out alot about importing capes and mounts iam in the process right now of getting my bond from customs so i can help others drop alot of the nonsense fees and hold ups that brokers cause.

Lochi, I'm ready. If you think we can beat 17", I may have to change my tune. I'm eager to call up a few jackals, and I'd love some kind of cat. Like I said - you point and I'll shoot! See ya soon.
