Here We Go Again

I drove out to check a spot that would work for the SW wind that night. It is a rectangular pasture that borders a gravel road to the south, woods to the east, and standing corn to the north. I like to set up the the fence that borders the corn, but found the farmer had chopped the 1st 50 yards of corn.

I figured it would work just as well to get tight to the standing corn. As I was getting set up, a group started howling from the woods to the SE. I hurried up to get my shit together, and run the caller down their direction in the field. Once back, I let out several howls, & within 3-4 minutes here comes three up the ditch heading my way.

I keyed in on the leader, and tried a whistle to stop him, but it prompted him to head straight towards me. I dropped him on the spot, then moved to find another. That one was cutting to the right, & I was in a panic to get the tripod moved to catch up, & managed two sound shots for my troubles. No idea where #3 went, but most likely baled into the corn.

I swung back over to #1 in time to see him get up & head for the corn. Made a great last second shot, & piled him up, only to see him get back up & into the corn! After a bit, I walked down trying to find where he went in the corn. I went back & forth several times, then out into the field figuring there had to be a bunch of blood where I had shot him. Zip. Then back to the corn's edge a couple more passes. I couldn't believe I couldn't find a single drop of blood. Piss on it, I give up.....

One last pass back towards my gear, low & behold, I saw a small blood swipe on a corn stalk. I followed the swipes in about 6 rows & found him piled up.

Glad you found it buddy. I thought that one was gonna run through your tripod legs. I think we have switch rolls-you are into them and I can't buy a howl or see one since that last "real lucky" night I had.
Never ceases to amaze me how there can be a huge hole and no blood sometimes.

I didn't realize how close the 2nd one was till I watched the video.

I was on a decent streak, 3 nights, 3 sets, & killed on all 3. Last night I had one sneak a peek from the woods, & went back in. 10 minutes later he came back out farted around & I thought he was headed towards the call. Just then he made a quick u-turn & back into the woods, never to be seen again. had him at 130 yards, should have shot.

Moved up the hill for another set, and me and another ended up having a bark-off. Just couldn't persuade him to show himself. 0 for 2.

Speaking of videos, these 2 were downloaded the following day, then a day or 3 later, they would not play, same shit as the other video that went MIA.

Luckily I hadn't deleted these from the scope yet, so I downloaded them again, & got them over to YT ASAP.

I'm wondering if somehow it's related to the RAV video, rather than starting a video per ususal?

No idea on the RAV but would think once they are on the computer they shouldn't just go away. I have edited with Clipchamp and put to the comp then not to YT for a couple days w/o issue.

That one must have thought he was a cat with multiple lives. He kept getting up. Glad you recovered him. Enjoyed the footage.
