Here's wheat we know about black coyotes.

crazy, they look like husky crosses.

The very first one I killed when I got to it I froze... I started looking for a collar... then I realized I was in the middle of nowhere and there's no way it's a dog. Upon close inspection of the face, tail, teeth, etc. I realized it was in fact a coyote. I've shown these pics to a few more knowledgeable folks than I and all pretty quickly came to the same conclusion.

It's interesting to me they were all from a very small area spread over a couple years.

We get the occasional "red" fox color phrase coyote. One was tanned, wall hanger at a buddies house. Much more brown mixed in here. Pale coyote are unusual, but then about 40% have some sort of skin, hair damage by mid winter. Mange, lice, guard hair damage from freezing to whatever the coyote is sleeping inside of.

The first one l shot was at the end of red light all-nighter. Decided to hunt till 9am in the woods and it along with a buddy shows up in a bench about 50yds below me at 8:50. No brainer as to which one to shoot. It had 3 white paws and a chest star.
The next one was also a “woods kill” with red lights and shotgun barrel of a Marrochi combo gun. It was colored like a husky/malamute.
The last was a couple winters ago with the Thermion. It was all black.
No pic of the first one cause l didnt carry a phone then. I tanned 2 for flat skins.

I called a beautiful black one years ago, called him to within 15 yards yet he got away unscathed. Rifle was pointing to the left, he emerged quickly to the right and within seconds he was gone. I have been having heart palpations ever since. Got another black one in the daytime on a trail camera one time. Haven’t seen another one since, but there are a few in this area

Things like this happen to all of us- reminds me of the time I lost what I am nearly certain was a 50+ pound striped bass. fought it for a few minutes and she turns around runs toward the end of the jetty and breaks me off. I was angry for about 5 years after that. I never felt a fish that heavy on the end of my rod since
