Hevi-shot Dead Coyote T shot

Do not shoot steel shot for predators! Very poor penetration.

Said it before, and I'll say it again. Go pattern your shotgun when you get your new choke. Start off with some 4 Buck (which you can get 5 shells for $7 or less). You can get some different manufactures of that and see how those do. If that patterns well for you, why do you have to shoot the Hevi-Shot? Short answer...YOU DON'T.

Personally, I would spend the $20 or so and see if the #4 buck shoots well before spending the $30+ to find out that the Hevi-shot doesn't.

In some retarded places, Arkensaw for one, outside of deer season, T shot is the largest shot legal. Since lead T is not readally available, Hevi-Shot may be the best option.
BUT, with that said, I haven't been able to bring myself to spend the dough on that stuff either.
I am also looking for a cheaper alternative to Hevi-Shot for cat hunting in the thick stuff. Any ideas on something cheaper than Hevi-Shot, bit smaller than #4 buck would be appreciated.

Shyne,
Federal offers a plated lead BB load that would work great for brush country bobcats. Pretty inexpensive and boxed 25 shells to the box. Look them up, I think you'd like them.

I guess I don't understand why the cost thing is such a big deal. The Dead Coyote T shot has been by far the most effective shotgun load I've used for putting coyotes down. And as a Fur hunter the 32 bucks for ten doesn't mean anything when I'm getting 40 bucks for a coyote pelt. So the $3.20 for a shotshell is well worth it for the 40 bucks I get with the coyote I harvest with it...... One dead coyote more than pays for the box of dead coyote shotshells...

I hate it when people say that!!

Thank You

I can clearly understand why you are offended!

I would petition for PM to put a *beeep* in place of that word when ever it is used!!

"[beeep] and pray".....

I live and hunt in a area in California where it is not legal to shoot coyotes with lead shot.

The Hevi-Shot and the Remington HD Tungsten shot kill coyotes much better and farther away than lead loads do.

I still have some Hevi-Shot "B" shot waterfowl loads and a bunch of Remington HD Tungsten #2s, BBs and Predator "T" shot 3" loads that smoke coyotes.

Recently I have bought close to 100 boxes of the Rem HD Tungsten 2-3/4" Ultimate Home Defense 1-1/4 oz BB loads that are on sale at Bass Pro Shops.

Today I got two more coyotes with these 2-3/4" Tungsten BB loads so we have now taken 14 coyotes with these loads with none of them running off.

Just because they are called home defense loads does not mean they will not work on Coyotes and Geese.

For $9.98 for a box of ten Tungsten BB loads that is about the same price as the better steel loads per shell. I opened up one of these shells and it had 59 pellets in it.

Five pounds of Tungsten shot at BPI costs $80.00, in 8 boxes of these 1-1/4 oz Tungsten BB loads there are 6.25 lbs of Tungsten shot in the loaded shells.

I bought most of the shells from Bass Pro Shops when they had free shipping deals going on.

Blame it on Jim [beeep]. It's all his fault. He gets his feelers hurt when somebody says "[beeep] and pray".

I recently got away from all hevi shot loads , I have used the dead coyote and the b shot from hevishot . Both loads would leak a clear round packing type balls that would come out of the end of the hull and end up in my pocket or feed tube of my shootgun. had to clean my gun way too many times , I will stay with #4 buck or plated lead bb

That is just the buffer in the shot wad..... all you need is a little bit of Elmers Glue down in the crimp to seal it back up....

FYI, Hevi Shot has gone up in price quite a bit due to the metal market.... TSS has as well. This has caused the turkey loads to jump $6-$10 a box (depending on the loads) more compared to last years stock.

Lets see 35 to 45 a box depending on where I buy it at and I still need to modify the hull to keep the buffer in it , yeah you bet not worth my money , I have never had that problem with any other knid of shot shells no matter the size or brand.

I was just offering a fix to the problem since you were having trouble with keeping the spilled buffer out of your pocket and gun...

Mass production items, it's going to happen from time to time... buy what you want... had handloads do the same thing due to crimping issues... Another good reason why it's a good idea to open the box and check the shells when possible before you buy.
