Hitting a running coyote

looks like alot of thought.
if you are a good bird hunter then th same rules apply to swinging on a yoter. butt beck bang.
yoter at any distance you match there speed and then swing passed. butt nose bang

There are some good videos on this topic in Youtube. The guys that made these videos are retired military snipers. They are shooting hogs at night with thermal scopes, but the same principals apply to any running animal. These videos are on the Jagerpro channel on Youtube.

Yrs ago we ran sighthounds on coyotes. Greyhounds typically would hit upper 30's-low 40's for a city block or so. They often would slowly close the gap on a coyote stretched out flat running for its life.

However there are some coyotes that will surpass the 40's. We had a little female catch dog she was fast topping out @ 50mph down a gravel road. One day we dumped all of the fresh hounds on a fresh coyote.

That coyote pulled away from them all. Like it had two more gears left. Even the fast catch dog wasn't no match in it's speed.

It was impressive to see.

I rarely take a shot at a running coyote.
I can't track them with a scope good enough and just not all
that confident of a good clean shot.

i have taken a few cracks at a couple trotting through the field... i thought they were moving fast till i shot at them. I didn't know they had afterburners ....lol
