Hogster 35 Undocumented Button Sequences

Totally confused why Bering would not have documented in the manual some button sequences. Was sighting in a rifle and internal batteries went dead. Switched to an external battery and then discovered that I had no reticles and was missing half of the sub menu icons. Ended up calling Bering in a panic but discovered that if you hold down all 3 buttons, release, and then press the menu button 4 times the reticles and icons reappear. It took several tries but it worked.
Then when researching on here I found a post where it said just to hold down the 3 buttons for 3 seconds or so. Wondering if anyone has a list of 'secret' codes.
Note: The lady at Bering was very helpful and pleasant.
If I would have been out hunting and this would have occurred I would have been very frustrated and likely would impact my next thermal purchase.
Not trying to sound like a *itch but this is a simple thing and for the price of a thermal a full manual listing ALL features should be included. I suggest this addition be made.

454, sorry for your issue. As Prostaff for Night Goggles, I try to make myself available to our customers. Night Goggles has a lot of knowledge on the Bering thermals. However, it resides mostly with Tom and myself as we have the most experience. Tom is out on a business trip, so I am a bit surprised whoever you spoke to at Night Goggles didn't give you my number to contact. Sorry for that.

There are actually two methods to turn off the reticle on the Hogsters and it varies depending on model and firmware.

Method #1: Hold the first and third button down and then press the middle button 4 times.

Method #2: Press all three buttons at the same time and hold for a few seconds. This is the information provided in a previous post that you were referring to.

This is the only undocumented button configuration that I am aware of. I don't have an explanation for why Bering has not included it in the manual. FYI, if you power down the scope with the reticle off, it also will be off when you power it back on. It is actually a really nice feature for when you wish to use as a monocular and not have a reticle in the way.

Thanks for the reply. I edited my original post as I did discover I received a paper pamphlet manual in the box. I suggest they add all features as this is a very important one. (I actually was on my second rifle being sighted in and when this occurred I didn't know what to do so I did a factory reset and lost all my sight in info and still didn't get the reticle back) (Initial mount and a first shot didn't hit a 2'x2' backer so wish I would have wrote the numbers down).

Yes, I always write my numbers down (typically on my smart phone as a note) and also take a picture of the rail position, so I always have that to look back on when switching guns.

Quick question, I do not have the scope in front of me or I would just try it but since you posted the manual earlier I wanted to look into something that I ran into. I did not know how to put the scope in standby mode so I just left the scope on all night. When I had the cap closed and then opened it later (on the next stand) I needed to do a manual nuc. Again I did not have the manual so I couldn't figure it out at the time.

On page 7 of the SH manual it says "to refresh manually, quick press the "m" MENU (3) and "C" (Calibration) (5) buttons."

Button 3 is the power button not the menu? So do I press buttons 3 and 5 at the same time or buttons 4 and 5 at the same time? I am assuming you quick press both simultaneously. Looks like a typo in the manual it either needs to say button 4 or the wording needs to be changed to on/off.

I couldn't find the exact wording you spoke of on page 7. Here is the button combinations on the SH:

Standby Mode: Quick press #3 (Power)
Standard NUC: Quick Press #5 (Calibrate/Photo) and #4 (Menu)
End Cap NUC: Close End Cap and Press and hold #5 (Calibrate/Photo) and #4 (Menu)
Rangefinder: Press and Hold #4 (Menu) and #3 (Power)

There is a chart on page 9 of the Super Hogster Manual I linked to above and it lists the combinations.
 
The wording I found was under "Advanced Menu Options Chart" on page 7 of the SH PDF. The third line is AUTO NUC ON/OFF option. This is where the confusion came from.

Looks like I should have read to page 9.

Looks like I should have read to page 9. The words are correct in that you quick push the Menu and the Calibrate button. The numbers are wrong as it should have been #4 and #5 as you pointed out.
