Hogue Savage Stock

I am thinking of what I am going to use as a rifle stock for a M12 action Savage that I just put together. It will need to fit the heavier barrel. I really have been giving the Hogue overmolded 10 series for the short action (blind magazine) varmint contour pillar bedded one a hard look. I have had Hogue rubber stock on a 10/22 for many years and just love the way that it feels.

Just wondered if any of you gentlemen had one and what you thought about it.

All responces appreciated as always.

I have a Hogue on my 10/22 and like it. Not in love with it, but I like it. I recently bought a FN Patrol in 300WSM. It also has the Hogue. The recoil is major and the Hogue won't let the rifle slide in my rest correctly, (flies straight up), I don't care for that. I'm in the process of replacing the Hogue with an H-S precision. Guess I have mixed feelings on the Hogue stock.

Well, I can tall you for certain that recoil is not going to be an issue with mine as it is in .221 Fireball chambering. I hope that someone out there has one on a Savage to report. I have a Choate that I can use but for the most part favor something a bit less Buck Rodgers for the gun.

I have the Rem 700 Tactical in .308 and .223 with those stocks. Mine are BDL, but I don't think it matters. They feel and fit great. I didn't even bother to bed them, because they shoot just fine as is. Mine are the ones with the pillars only. They came with the guns. I read in the Midway catalog that they also come with full aluminum bedding blocks.

I had the hogue full bed DBM model on backorder for 6 weeks and finally cancelled it. I went with the Boyde feather TH but have to modify it for the DBM. I really wanted to the try the hogue.

I have a few Hogue stocks full bed and pillar bedding. I like them for hunting. Good no slip grip, quiet and no worry using a rock for a rest.

I love the Hogue stock. I don't have one on a Savage, but I have two Savage builds in the safe waiting stocks. I am going to put a Hogue on one of them. The other I am going to put a Stockade stock on.
I have done quite a bit of reading on Savage stocks and you don't hear much about Hogue stocks on them. I don't know why that is.
I have a couple on Remington's and they are great.
