Was thinking of purchasing a Thompson contender. Trying to cut down on this much weight as possible while lion hunting. Just was curious, I do not want a shoulder holster. I would like some type of holster that I could lash to the side of my backpack. In a cross draw type application. Would like to use the lashing straps on the backpack that most would normally use to lash a tripod or spotting scope. Would like to be able to lash it on the left side of the pack so that I could reach with my right hand unsnapped the holster and take the contender out. Hopefully somebody on here has already done this and would have some suggestions, as to type of holster. Thank you.

Take care, Willie

The bandolier holster that Cabelas sells has straps similar to belt loops all the way down both sides of it. It might work for you and the price is good. The only negative thing is the velcro that holds the flap down is noisy to open.

I have one of these for a 12" scoped Contender. It has a shoulder & waist strap. Most of the time I just have it just sticking out of the top of the pack in case I get a

You say you're all set, but I'll throw out a vote for Dave Jensen for others reading the post. He custom-made a holster for me a few years ago and it's been great. Very well made, high quality piece of gear.

I carry mine in a backpack with ammo, shooting gear and lunch. I can carry a camo net and my caller with batteries. I have one that turkey seat clips on.

I looked at holsters, they just get in my way. I carry a Ruger single-six under my coat for close shots. I have two rifle barrels. When,I use them with a butt stock. I can use a sling. I nave a 16in 223rem and a 23in 6.8mm barrels. I am going to have my 6.8mm barrel cut to 18in and add a flash hider.

I have seen some holsters on ebay and gunbroker. I have a friend who uses a single point AR sling. I used one to this fall when I was deer hunted.
