We may be talking about two different home brews. I have a Cass and I have a RS amp and RS 25 rms watt 4*6 speaker. Sound is the same. I then changed to one of the amps most on here recommend. Starts with a C. Cant remember the name. With the RS amp, there was a lot of drag. Volume was the same as the Cass. The new amp is powered by two - 18 volt De-Walt drill batteries. It is a duel stereo 20 watt amp that will make your ears bleed. I need to add another 25 watt speaker to it.
for crows get a 12 volt gel battery and a car sterio with cd or mp3 input....the sterio will have 120 ...180 watt for about 59 dollars even less in a salvage yard....hook up the 2 50 watt radio shack speakers and you got a crow calling machine....
my buddy built one in a plastic tool box...painted the box green the speakers on top black...with specled yellow on top to immitate corn...i guess lol...
works good on the outside of the house or fishing for music...and callin critters
also im not certain but does the bighorn take alot of batterys
4 C size for the Cass, but they last for several 1/2 crow hunts at full volume and continues calling.
I set my speaker on top so sound would not be as directional. That gives the overhead birds something to look for with the sound bouncing around. I need to add another speaker. 1/2 the amp is not even hooked up. 18 volts really kicks up the sound volume.
BTW you can't build this one for the cost of a Cass.
