Nope its really easy. This is for manganese park. You can substitute the manganese with a zinc wheel weight if you want a zinc park. Zink tends to be a lighter grey like WW2 era stuff.
Preparation
Media blasted all parts clean
Degrease, i used xylene, you can use thinner etc. Do not touch the parts with bare hands after they have been blasted or degreased. Wear rubber gloves!!!
Solution
Home Made Parking Solution
"do as you oughta, add acid to wattah" not watta to acid!! Prep and etch is the acid
2 gallons - distilled water
3 ounces - black manganese (Manganese Dioxide Powder-from pottery supply store) (D cell batterys also contain this) enough to mix up solution.
3/4 cup - (Kwik klean) Phosphoric Prep and Etch
2 - OOOO steel wool pads (degrease by dipping in acetone before use)
Directions. (Use a stainless steel tank)!!!
(While your heating your solution, do your acid bath and rinse of your parts)
1. Fill tank with water
2. Add acid to water (prep and etch) make sure the manganise is broke up into a powder form. Add it to solution
3. Heatto175-190degF do not let it boil!!!
4. Add steel wool
5. Start parking after steel wool is dissolved or mostly dissolved
6. Submerge part in solution
7. Swirl part in solution and check every 5 min.
8. Check after 10 minutes and pulled them after 15 – 30 minutes
9. Rinse off with water, blow dry
10. Spray with oil or WD-40'd, or soak it in any kind of oil. Skip the oil step if you plan to paint over the park.
