Homemade cage trap.....NO LONGER A PROTOTYPE!

A guy in my town made a bunch for himself, it has a swing shut door that is locked with 2 lock washers, very good design. The tall door slide frame would take up a lot of room in a truck if you carry very many out to the country.

To be honest I love the bait door feature, why hasn't anyone thought of that. The lock is a great idea as well. Great Job! How big are you going to be making them? Might be great for bobcats!

I made my own box traps but they were no where near as nice as the one you built.

I am not trying to be a jerk or anything but are you serious? I have small squirrel traps all the way to raccoon, beaver and bobcat traps with bait doors from the factory.

All my raccoon traps and bigger come from a company called Advanced Trap out of South GA. I feel he makes the best trap on the market and my livelihood depends on it.

Tomahawk and SafeGaurd traps also have bait doors on some of there traps. AES traps out of Minnesota has been putting bait doors on his custom traps for a while. The list goes on and on.

I have like 18 or so and getting more in Oct, as far as I am concerned it is the best cage trap on earth and I depend on them for my full time income.

What one did you get?

I like what you are building and your perseverance.I have built several similar traps out of wood . I have two suggestions for you on the trigger and latch . Message me if you care to hear what worked better for me .
Too much negativity in recent posts for me to post what I use on the public forum .

If your wood traps are strong and can hold an armadillo then you may be able to sell them. Wooden traps work better for dillos and once you catch one it works even better, the wood holds the scent better and that attracts more dillos. Some man out of the south keeps dillos in his traps and then sells them for a lot more and I heard he is doing well with it. I do not remember the price but it was like 80 bucks but i do not remember if that was after he had dillos in it. Wooden traps also work better for rabbits.
