Homemade Lure

Does anyone have a recipe for a homemade trapping lure using things you can buy from the grocery store. Im wanting to set a few traps this weekend but dont have time to get any lure here and im not sure if anyone around here sells any. I can buy coyote urine and rabbit urine at the local Wal-Mart with the predator hunting supplies. Thanks in advance.

sardine's or Jack Mackeral will work for all predators. and fish is an excellent change up bait/lure for coyotes.

if your wanting a lure type thing, go to the bake isle and get ya some spices. but first we need to know what the target species is.

I will mainly be going after coyotes but not ruling out the possibility of catching an occassional cat. Not too many fox around here and would like to stay away from coons if possible.

I never did measurements, just like I rarely do in cooking, but I know what I have used. House cat is one of the best ingredients, although I wouldn't suggest you shoot your neighbor's pet (unless you know they are gone to town for a while). I know around here it's a common occurrence for cats to get killed in the road, so that's a good way to obtain one. House cat gives off great odor, even when frozen solid. Cut up the cat with a hatchet, hair and all. Do the same thing with a groundhog and add it to the mix. Add just about any fish you catch to the mix, but in much smaller amounts. I never used rabbit, but for no good reason, it's just how I made it, and it worked well. I'm sure there are better bait recipes that people on this forum use.
