Hope this dont make anyone madd..........................

I'd Have to say my Winchester Model 70 Featherweight Classic chambered in .280rem, have to be my all time favorite rifle in my all time favorite caliber!

Wouldn't the howitzer be closer to a rolling block than a bolt action.

I'm going to limit my choice to a gun that I currently own, not a dream gun. I'll give my current calibers, 17HMR, 22 LR, 22 Magnum, 2 - 223's, 243, 7mm Rem Mag, 7.62X39, 30-06, and 50 cal blackpowder. If I was in a survival situation I would keep my 22 mag. It will kill anything and has killed at least one of everything game wise that walks in AL. I've never shot a person with it, but it would work for that too if needed. With that caliber it comes down to shot placement and distance. I could carry that gun and 1000 rounds of ammo all day long, every day if needed. Of course, my single shot 223 would be a great choice too since I would shoot military ammo in it. My bolt 223 is too heavy to carry around all day.

Is this a riddle or something?

you want me to pick one and only one bolt action rifle? well it would have to be my CZ 550 Varmit in 308. great rifle, set-trigger/adjustable trigger, accurate as [beeep] and kicks like a 223. so yeah i would have to stay with this one. if i had a second choice it would be a M40A4 sniper system.

I would have a Custom rifle:

Remington 700 Action
Timney Trigger at 2.5#
ER Shaw barrel Magnum Sporter Contour
HS Precision Stock with Full length bedding
280 AI cal

That's kind of a tough question because it keeps changing but right now I'd have to say my Ruger 77 MKII Ultralight in .17-.204. It was one of my biggest disappointments in its original configuration but put on a Pac-Nor barrel and it shoots the tiniest groups I ever shot in my life. Thinking of rebarreling my XR-100 into a 6mm Dasher so who knows that might be my answer next time. Dave

Mine would have to be my newley built 03a3 in 338/06 timmey triger at 2.5lb, PAC-NOR barrel cut to 24.3/8in toped with a Leupold VXIII 3.5-10x40 shooting 200gr bullets. Haven't shot anything but paper with it yet but it is showing potential.

I always keep my CZ in varmint 204 when I am hunting. But if I am in the blind I have my .270 by Savage. I also keep the Rem 700 .308 in the case if I am out hunting on the other hand I keep ......the list goes on and on. Sorry just can't pick one.

This is always a good topic, I am always wanting a new gun, I would lean towards a Christensen Arms in a 270 wsm or a 300 ultra. But until I can afford one I will stick with my trusty Winchester Model 70 Stainless Classic in a 270, I have other guns this one is always reliable. Taken many deer, elk, and anything else I choose to squeeze off on.
