Hornady 17 WSM

I'll buy it when I see it. Hornady always does a good job of what they do, they aren't complacent like Winchester. JUst look at the differences in the web sites!!!!

Just got a Ruger 77/17 wsm and a leupold cds and wanted to shoot Hornady bullets in it always shoot Hornady ammo with good results.

Cabelas in Greenville, SC had over 20 boxes of 17WSM when I was there 10 days ago. IIRC some Winchester and some Hornady. I don't remember what bullet weights. There were two bullet weights from both manufacturers. Supply seems to be getting better.

REPORT!!!! REPORT!!!! REPORT????? On the Ruger Thanks

I have a bunch of 17 WSM ammo from Winchester, and both the 20 gr. and 25 gr. ballistic tips shoot about the same..1.5-2MOA. Not impressive. First I find a few boxes of the new Federal 20 gr. BT offering, and then I find a couple of boxes of the new Hornady 20 gr. VMax ammo. So I set up the rests, pick a day with little wind, and give them both a test...Still 1.5-2 MOA groups on the 100 yard target. I have a heavy stainless barreled BMag, in a Boyds laminated vented varmint stock, with a 6-18x Nikon Buckmaster for optic sights.

If I had to pick the best ammo out of my rifle, I would have to give it to the Winchester 25 gr., by a nose. With that said, I noticed some carbon fouling at the muzzle, so I am going to thoroughly clean, and de-copper, the bore, and re-shoot the experiment, but at this point I am expecting I have a 1.5-2 MOA rifle. Probably OK for varmints out to 150 yards, but I wouldn't call it a "tack driver".

FWIW, In looking at the POI of the groups, it sure looks like inconsistent rim fire ammo, to me. At least all three brands seem to be consistently inconsistent.

Haven't had a chance to shoot it yet but will report when i do just got it Saturday and ordered the cds dial today from leupold.

I called Hornady today and they told me they just started shipping it last week and cabelas was one of them but may not have it yet. Called Cabelas and they told me they don't know what stores had it one would think the home office would know were they sent it.

Just got notification that Midwayusa has Hornady 20gr 17wsm in stock. I didn't order any cause they want $10.59 to ship if I order 1 or 2 boxes. Not worth it to me. $15.99 a box, limit of 20.
Let us know how it shoots...

Thanks for the help just got the same notification and ordered 5 box but thanks again. Will let you all know how it shoots.

What do they get to ship 5 boxes? I don't want to seem cheap, but I can't see paying $21 for a box of $16 ammo that I don't even know if my rifle likes or not. Don't get me wrong, if this was the best out of my gun and I needed it, I'd be willing to pay their high shipping cost. I jumped all over the AE 20 grainers when I finally found them and they didn't shoot much better than the Winchester ammo. In fact, WIN 20's are pry the best I have. I would think they'll show up at Cabelas soon.

Best of luck

Just got back on their site for kicks. I can't believe the Hornady ammo is still available. I did see there's a promo code for free shipping on orders over $150.
