I guess I'm not alone on my feeling about Hornady dies. I had a set in .300WM, pain to setup and it took a lot of pressure to resize, to the point I was afraid it would seize.

Ended up replacing them with RCBS and promptly sold them. That was probably 6 years ago.

My 444 is a straight walled case. I wonder if it makes a difference when they're for bottle necked cases?

Not that I have ever experienced. I only have about fifteen sets of their bottle necked dies. About the same number of RCBS and the same in Reddings.

I only have a couple of sets of Hornady dies; most are RCBS. I will state, though, that I recently had to send one set's FL die back because the re-sized brass was not really any smaller than the fired cases; it didn't re-size squat! It has been over two weeks since they got the die, and not a word. I don't know what is going on, but it shouldn't take two weeks to measure a die and determine if it is within tolerance or not, in my estimation.

Given a choice, I would stay with RCBS...

I see that the OP already ordered...but since we are still adding our 2 cents worth....I have been reloading a long time now and have like most of you used all kinds and brands of equipment...BUT I have settled on 3 brands that have solid well built equipment and better than that they have the Customer service to back up their products. I use RCBS for all Rifle and most Pistol, Dillon for progressive speed on Pistol and Ponsness Warren for al my shotgun loading. All three are top shelf with equipment and even better than that with service and that is as important to me as the quality of the product.

RCBS, Hornady, Redding, Lee, Lyman and a few others, some no longer in production. Postives and negatives to them all, but between Hornady and RCBS I prefer the Hornady, mostly because of the seater die.

Hornady bullet seating dies are great because they float and can use the same die for .222, .223 or 22-250 as an example. RCBs I like better for resize.
