Hornady TAP for coyotes?

It the same as the V-max for all practical purposes.

Steve, are you sure. You're probably right but I was under the impression that the TAP rounds were lighter skinned than the v-maxes. They were designed for LEO as to not penetrate interior walls of a structure making them more frangible. I probably really screwed that all up. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused1.gif

Same V-Max bullets - no different than what you get in the little boxes.

Wow, I learned something new today.

I was under the impression that they used some kind of magical bullet not available for reloaders in the TAP. Seems like I heard it called the T3 bullet?

different propellent and case...thats about it. The propellent is not supposed to cause as much of a muzzle flash.

Yeah, that's my understanding of TAP ammo. No need to worry about muzzle flash when huntin' but it could be a bad thing in an urban situation.

I guess you should save your TAP rounds for night hunting in that case. LOL. Easier too make a follow-up shot in the dark without waiting for your night vision to restore. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif Thanks for the info guys.

The rifle rounds are kinda kinda expensive, when there are other good alternatives. IMHO I've used some of the 00 buck tap ammo that a police officer friend of mine gave me. They seem to hold tight pattern pretty well.

My AR eats the TAP'S up. very accurate, and definently has the kill factor. I have never had a yote run after being hit with this devastating bullet..

Glad to hear that some folks like them.
I had thought about trying them, until I watched the Verminators 2, & saw a well hit coyote, out in Colorado, run off from TR as if it hadn't even been shot. I don't remember the distance, but it was fairly close. Normally that coyote would have been DRT.

Yip, that was the last time we used that ammo. in the .223. Took three shots to anchor that coyote that canislatrans is speaking about, and that just didn't impress me at all. And it's not like any of the shots were bad hits either. At a distance of less than 100 yards, I would've expected a DRT, but got less than that. None of the them exited though, so fur friendly, they are.
