Hornet????

Anyone ever built a 22 Hornet with a custom barrel? I read somewhere, that even with a custom barrel that accuracy didn't improve that much. I have a CZ and haven't shot it enough to know if its going to be a shooter or not. Just curious if a nice aftermarket barrel is worth the cost. If a barrel replacement was in order, whose barrel would you use???

Dont take what you read abput the Hornet to heart. I have seen bad shooters in almost evey caliber.
I happen to love the little Hornet. Everyone I have owned has shot good enough to take out a coyote out to 150 to 200 yards.

I've got a Model 43 Winchester in .22 Hornet. My mother gave it to my father as a birthday present when they were first married. The rifle averages 1-1-1/4" groups @100. A friend has a custom Ruger single shot that doesn't do much better. Mine is plenty accurate to drop fox or coyote and I be done so past 200 yards. I've even taken a nice whitetail buck with it once. (Standing shot a couple inches below his ear with a 35 grain pill).

My CZ .22 Hornet shoots 1/2-inch groups all day with Lil’ Gun and 45 grain Speer PSPs. If I don’t convert it to a .19 Calhoon when the barrel wears out, it’ll get a Pac-Nor barrel in a 24” CZ Varmint contour and possibly a little faster twist.
