Im kinda new to turkey hunting, I was just wondering how often a bird ends up having 5 beards? This is the first I have ever seen.

Nice bird! I doubt five beards is very common. Double beards and even triple bearded gobblers aren't all that uncommon. But I'd say five beards was moving away from the typical number. I've never killed a five bearded gobbler... or a four bearded gobbler... or a triple bearded gobbler... but I have killed some double beards and seen a couple triple bearded birds from friends. Again, cool trophy and congrat's!

Nice, I agree with GC it can't be that commom espcially with all of them being ropes like that. Will be a long time I imagine before you see another one, good job.

I have killed only one that had multiple beards and it had 4, but the other 3 weren't near as long as those on your bird. Mine had a normal main beard about 10" or so, and the other three were like 4", 3", and maybe 1"?
I have never seen a tom with 5 beards. Real nice bird. Thanks for showing. What did he weigh?

I killed a bearded hen once in the Fall. I Shot 2 birds on the scatter, and one was a "real" jake with a 4" beard, and the other was an imposter jake, hen with a longer beard than the jake.

Dang nice longbeard giverson! I'd say that is rare. I've had some doubles, even a bearded hen before but 5 is impressive. You should plaque that one.

I've killed a handful of double beards, seen a few triples, one quadruple, and one seven bearded bird. That is a real trophy and those extra beards are nice and thick and long. Congrats!

That would be a BOONER of a turkey, if'n there were such a thing. A stud of all studs!! A royal of a stag. Not your average chicken..............oh alright, you get the picture. Congrats on a real nice specimen!!

How long were his spurs?

that thing probably scores well above 100!

Pretty rare Giverson. I've been turkey hunting 15 plus years and have only seen one five beard and have only killed one myself with two beards. He now resides in my home office.

That's a once in a lifetime bird right there buddy,cool deal. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif
