Those of you who have a syco tweety or twisted syco call, how are you supposed to blow it. the sound i get when following the instructions is kinda like 2 cats fighting. is that the sound it's supposed to make?

Never heard it described that way, but upon reflection, that about sums it up.

I have both the Syco Tweety, and the Twisted Syco. Love 'em both. But you're correct that they are hard to describe.
And I find that no two people use them the same way.

That being the case...I hope that if Rick happens to see this post he doesn't take offense.
Absolutely no copyright infringement is meant.

But, there's no better way to answer your question, than to let the Master & innovator of the calls show you how it's done!

First video is the Syco Tweety.

The second video is the Twisted Syco.

I apologize for the poor quality. I recorded them as they played out on my TV. Just click on the picture to start the video.

Thanks Will. The sound I've been producing was lower pitched, but I see I was higher up on the reed.

I'm guessing those are from the verminators videos. I looked at his site yesterday to see if there was an instructional vid. and saw the promo for one where he was holding a syco tweety.

I'm gonna have to buy a few vids now. Only one I have is the mastering the art that came with my Primos li'l dog, but I see there is a lot to learn from them.

Yes, the 1st clip is from Verminators #5, and the 2nd clip is from Verminators #6.
That's why I wanted to be clear that I meant no infringement.
I tried to find some videos on youtube, to link to, but all I could find were the promo vids Rick's been making for EDGE/Lucky Duck.

Rick's a sponsor here, & a heck of a great guy, IMHO.
Those first six DVDs all have a short amount of "instruction" on hus calls.
But, I feel you can get a lot of info by just watching & listening to Rick use the calls on each hunt.
And if not, heck at least they're fun to watch!!

The Twisted Syco is a REALLY fun call.

You can use it 3 different ways, with both 'splits' of the reed moving, or just one or the other. The verminator videos show how to do it, but it's not that hard to figure out. Either you can turn it sideways and dampen one split with your lips, or you can slide it to the corner of your mouth and dampen one of the reed splits with your teeth (letting the other fly free).

The Twisted Syco, or Syco Tweety with both reeds should sound like you're ripping a cat in half. Very resonant and shrill, lots of 'snot' to it.

I personally like the Syco Tweety better than the new version, the Twisted Syco, but both are wicked calls. I've bought dozens of the Syco Tweety's over the last few years because every time I go hunting with new guys, I end up passing mine on because the guys like the sound so much.
