How do you carry everything to the stand?

I must look like Santa Claus when I waddle out to a stand carrying all of my stuff. There's my rifle, the foam seat cushion, binoculars, back-up hand calls on lanyards, shooting sticks, my e-caller, my electronic decoy, rangefinder, misting bottle of coyote urine, and pruners to cut off the branches sticking me in the back. I'm sure I left out one or six other items(grin). It's about all this old buzzard can handle if I have a coyote to drag back to the truck. I've been thinking about taking a backpack for a lot of my stuff. What do you guys use to tote your pile to stand locations?

mifox,

I carry a backpack sometimes but lately have been using a turkey hunting vest. It has a fold down foam seat and an internal steel frame for support that really works to keep your back from hurting on those long stands. It has large and small pockets you can use for calls, extra clothing, TP or whatever. On the sides it has 2 small pockets that my FoxPro and remote fit into perfectly. I can reach the FP without taking off the vest but when I sit down I slip the shoulder straps off for more freedom of movement.
The only things I have in my hands while walking are my shooting sticks and it works well for me.

I've been using a turkey vest too. I originally got it because I didn't want to walk off and leave another seat cushion behind.
I carry:
binocs
range finder
tail puller
pruners
camera
tripod
folding stool
decoys
hand-calls
e-call
extra ammo
water
gloves
face net
wind indicator
T-post stepper
Coyote drag
matches
shooting sticks
& flashlight

I take an Eberlestock back pack. It has a scabbord in it to carry your rifle on your back and you can pull it out without taking the pack off if need be. I carry most everything you guys carry except pruners. I'll have to through those in the pack. That's a good idea.

Thanks

Sheese! I came back here because I realized I had forgotten a few things. If you're going to make fun of me, I just won't post 'em. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mad.gif
U-haul? My ATV and small trailer work just fine, thank you! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

I also use a turkey vest. It holds everything and makes 30 minutes on stand, a whole lot more comfortable with the back support.

Badlands backpack, it's loaded with features and roomy. It holds everything including some lunch. Weighs 13+ lbs loaded before food. My wife carries it easily. Here it is on the scale. Just throw some snow on it at sets in winter.

Man I thought I carried too much stuff... I use a backpack to carry my calls, water, toilet paper (this is a must), binos, couple of knives, flashlight, ammo, couple of snacks. My buttpad is hooked to my backpack. And then I carry my sticks and gun.

Weasel is in it for the long haul. Weasel - What brand/ model do you have in a Turkey vest? My buddy has been trying to find just the right one with a buttpad or foam chair to use for day hunts.

I carry everything in my old camo Army "Alice" pack. I searched around for a while for an apporpriate pack to do what I wanted, without much luck. One day I spied my old Army ruck in the rafters in the garage, and the rest is history.

I switched to this from a fanny pack after I herniated a disc, and had to have a way to get a small folding chair out with me to the stands.

The pack has one large compartment, with 3 large pockets on the outside.

In one pocket goes the Foxpro, in the other goes my enticer decoy, and binos, gps, cell phone, and camera in the 3rd.

In the main compartment goes my folding chidren's chair (2 of them if my son goes with), shooting sticks, and my survival fanny pack, which has the following:

Basic First aid kit
Coagulant Powder
Sawyer "Extractor" Snake bite kit
Paper Towels
Fire starting kit
2 space blankets
water tabs
spare ammo
compass
FRS/GMRS radio (works where cell phones won't)
map
50' parachute cord
emergency poncho (fancy name for a garbage bag)
2 small garbage bags
AA mini mag light
AA mini led light
leatherman multi-tool

Hanging on alice clips on the side of the pack is one or two (depending on how hot and dry it is) 1 qt canteens.

It's a lot, and it might be considered overkill, but I often get pretty far out on foot with my 12 year old. I want him to have the best possible chance if Dad goes down with a heart attack or some accident.

Since I always need the chair, this set up goes with me if it's one stand 150 yards from the truck, or a full day of walking.

I long for the days of just waling out with a rifle, couple of calls on a lanyard, and maybe a fanny pack and canteen. Since my back injury, that's not happening anymore however.

rifle on sling.

Call around my neck..

Extra bullets in my pocket.

Camera in my other pocket.

License in my back pocket.

Yup, I can handle it.

Now there's an idea I like! Make the wife carry it! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

A rifle with sling,my trusty stool and a call.No need for binocular, I always assume I'll call the coyotes from "out there" to within 20-50 yards. Don't need water, thats a short five minutes away in the truck along with lunch, and all the other "stuff" you all must be packing out in the field with you:)
Now of course, one of these days Im sure I'll stumble, shoot myself in the foot, then mess my pants at the sight, and wished like hell I had my anti-coaggulant powder and butt wipe......till then, I like to travel light.

My wife or calling partner does it all. Thought about adopting a Sherpa child once????

Seriously,

I carry:

A knife and Matches/lighter in pants Pocket
Howler on Lanard
bino around neck
Tally Ho in my shirt Pocket
fox Pro and remote fits into my Coat Pocket
Gun on a sling
An emergency supply of tp in another pocket.
Extra ammo where it fits

Some of you guys are packing some serious stuff around...

Man, you guys carry a lot of stuff! I carry my binos and a couple mouth calls around my neck, my rifle slung over one shoulder, Foxpro in one hand, a few folded paper towels in a back pocket (just in case), a pocket knife and a few extra rounds in separate front pockets, camo gloves and face mask rolled up in a pocket, and a length of 550 cord to drag critters with....

I'm not sold on decoys, cover scents, or rangefinders for hunting coyotes, but to each his own....

ok lets see hummmmm

rifle with extra ammo on the butt
shooting sticks
mouth diafram my 90% call of choice
calls on lanyard

got a tactical vest w/seat attached that holds
.40 pistol
extra calls in magazeen pockets
20oz watter
1 mre with extra accessory pack with extra tp
few candy bars
raidio if with pards

on belt
multi tool and cell turned to vibrate ( actulay droped it one day last stand and had wife call it i was just past it when i hurd the buzz against a rock) verry lucky
if in the thick stuff the shotgun w/ shells on the butt
i also dont get more than 200-300yds from the blazer

1. Rifle
2. turkey seat
3. couple of handcalls in pockets with some extra ammo
4. knife on belt
5. Fanny pack; In the pack
camera-sometimes
rope type gambrel
tail puller
e-caller
extra batteries
plastic trashbag
some extra rope
Bottle of something to drink and maybe some pogey bait.

I do a lot of walking in the timber. The truck may be a mile or two away. So, I skin the coyote, and throw it in the trashbag, then lay it on the fanny pack and tie it on. Off to the next stand. If I'm with a friend I'll take a picture first.

Oh yea, some TP in a pocket, just in case. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
