How do you carry your 1911?

Hey guys, not too long ago I picked up a Sig 1911 nitron rail as my first handgun and carry weapon. I've got to say, I'm in love! I carried an m9 in the military and absolutely hated it. But my Sig is accurate with everything I've fed it so far, great trigger, and with the galco king tuk holster it carries like a dream. I am not a big guy at 5'7 155lbs, and I have no trouble carrying discreetly, even in the summer time. So what does everyone else prefer for their carry setup?

For my 1911 I use a Serpa, I like the way it retains the gun. I usually don't go for CC when I carry my 1911, I've got some smaller guns I use for that normally.

I will carry the 1911 if I'm out fishing or something like that, and with the Serpa I am pretty confident the thing isn't going to slip out of the holster and over the edge of the boat.

yea i carry a 1911 and love it it was my first handgun!!! I always liked the look and feel of the 1911 and the knock down power i always carry that when im hunting or my 357 mag

The question was, 'How?'. NOT if you like it, not if it looks good, not if it has knock down power. And, not if you have a 357, too. Aych, Oh, Dubya. HOW?

If I carry my 1911, its owb basic with maybe an unbuttoned shirt over it. For actual conceal, I have better tools than the 1911.

Galco slide or Crossbreed SuperTuck.

Sometimes you feel like a "slide", sometimes you don't.

Kramer horsehide cross draw if will be behind the wheel a lot.

Be careful huntsman, I posted a similar reply about a year ago and was told if I did it again,I would be "Suspended" From P.M.

I enjoy your posts and would hate to see you banned.

The original post sure as [beeep] wasn't titled please give us your stupid, unwarranted [beeep] answer.

It must make you feel good being a complete jerk.

During cool times I carry my Colt Defender in a Nighthawk Custom belt holster. I conceal it under a sweatshirt. In the summer months I carry it in an inside the waistband holster with my sloppily tucked shirt just rolled over it. No one has ever really noticed it.

I like a lightweight commander type 1911 and carry mine in either a Milt Sparks VMII... (stock photo from the website).

Or this OWB Tauris holster... (stock photo from the website).

I am 5' 11" and 200lb's, I carry a Kimber Ultra Carry 2 in a Milt Sparks Versa Max 2. Shown above in a picture by GC. Very pleased with the set up.

this is how my wife carries. Its a Michael's Gunmate. She carries a Springfield Armory 1911 Stainless "Loaded"

I personally use an Uncle Mikes kydex paddle set with a forward rake for ease of draw.

Quick note on photo, that was 9/11/11 the tenth anniversary of 9/11, and 3 months after my oldest son finished his cancer treatment that took his left leg above the knee. We hiked St. Mary's peak in western Montana elevation 9300' and Ty rode my saddle mare. A lot of great memories in that pic.

VMII is tough to beat. Heres mine, I dont carry it as im not a 1911 fan, but everybody should have at least one 1911 in their collection, might as well be a Sig!
