How do you guys sling suppressed bolt actions?

I'm just curious as I hunted all season suppressed with a 22" barreled AR and it's a little top heavy. I plan on putting on a longer float tube to get the sling attachment point further up.

But I just got a RAP 204, and with a suppressor it's almost impossible to carry slung. The stock is so light it's really noticeable. Of course I don't want to add weight, and attaching the sling further up really doesn't seem like an option either.

Have you considered a pack? We use Eberlestock packs, and they are awesome for carrying suppressed rifles, center of gravity in the middle of your back, and the scabbard sits low so it's not top heavy. Possibly something to look into.

I may have to look into those. It seems to me either carry in a pack or fight the rifle wanting to tip over backwards all day.

Like you my bolt guns are 22" and top heavy w can. For long walks I sling it cross ways on my back. Tried with can down and that dont work as it's scraping every shrub. I have moved studs forward with little help.
I don't use a pack either.

Barrel down. Yes it gets a little low for the brush. I rotate it forward,or across my front too control the can. I run a 26" heavy barrel with a 7" can. It is a pain sometimes, but that's my go to rifle.

I also am fighting top the heavy issue. I have jumped or spotted coyotes on the way to a stand and usually mange to stop them and shoot before they run for the next county so a pack is less of an option for me. I think the ultimate solution for me is going to be using a GRS stock with my blue point sling. It puts the sling points very close to my suppressed 6.8 AR pig gun sling points and I can carry that in front of me and control the weapon moving through brush and still get it up for a standing shot for a surprise encounter.

I took 2 slings, sewed them together at the top & bottom near the swivel.
1 arm through each sling puts my rifle pretty centered on my back, barrel up.

That's a good idea and similar to what I've done before but I just hooked the swivels together. I will see how that works with this rifle.

Have you ever drawn out of a eberlestock? It's fast and it's not like your shooting upland birds anyway. Plus you don't have to have a sling flopping around. Hands free and if you want to bring binos they don't get in the way

Get a backpack style sling like the Timber Butte Outdoors "Outlaw". Works great for carrying heavy/long rifles vertically.

I hump suppressed rifles around the mountains a lot. Attach sling to weak side at front and back carry muzzle up in front of you. Most of the competitors at our matches carry this way also. You can go hands free or use hands to guide and move rifle as needed.

That's not good for me, in the dark, plus mine are more than hand tight, & don't want dirt in the threads anyway.

The barrel up front safari carry with a loaded backpack on the back, is looking better & better, got one on order to try..
If that goes well, then may make a safari type from paracord.

Depends... short walk cross body muzzle down and left, at the semi ready I guess. Long walk across the back muzzle up and to the left.

I use a padded vickers sling pretty much the exact one we are issued, but padded obviously. It gets the job done and I am used to it, been around the world with me a time or 2.

That's an interesting idea. On one of my ar's I just replaced the 12" ff tube with a 15" and it made a huge difference.

FYI the barrel band stud from my Marlin 336 fits the RAP 204 barrel well. It carries well that way; when the wind stops howling I'll see if it affects accuracy from the bench or sticks but I can't see why it would with no pressure on the sling.
