How long do you leave traps?

How long do most of you leave a unactive set before pulling it? I have both a coyote and bobcat set that are over a week old, both untouched. The coyote sets were put in a wash just off the trail. Tracks were seen when I set them, but none since then. The bobcat set is on the edge of the wash, on a faint trail. I know cats are in the immdiate area. Would it help to freshen the sets?

If it's a good location with fresh sign, I'd leave them for a couple of weeks. If you're not getting any action by then, I'd pull them or move them to another spot. Make sure you're making your sets where the prevailing wind will blow the scents into the travel routes. I usually freshen my scents after a rain or about 10 days whichever is sooner.

Be patient with the bobcat sets, they tend to roam quite some distance in their routes.

I normally leave coyote sets in the same location for 2-1/2 weeks, with freshing of the scent every three days. If nothing happens at that location, I'll move on two my secondary(or worse) pre-season set locations.

I also leave mine for at least two weeks. Coyotes will run a route and depending on how long it is he may not be back by the spot you saw fresh sign for some time. I also freshen my song dog sets with bait and a few drops of red fox urine every 3-4 days depending on the weather.

if it is in a good spot leave it.... it may set there for what seems like an eternity then all of a sudden fire up.... patience grasshoppa'
