How many have ever forgotten ammo for a hunting trip?

I haven't, but have a good friend who did. He owned two Sendero's in big calibers (I want to say they were in 300 RUM and 7 STW). Good luck finding those cals in small town Wyoming. Long story short, he drove 250 miles to camp and realized that he grabbed the wrong handloads. He ended up having to drive home to get the correct ammo which cost him a day of hunting. My dad always subscribed to the theory you mentioned of being able to find your ammo in a small town hardware store if necessary.

Never forgotten it entirely but have left it at camp.

Easy fix, get a leather ammo holder and leave it on your belt with your clothes. A 10 round rifle holder will hold 7 hunting rounds and 6 pistol rounds, guaranteed 1 full load for both the rifle and the 44 plus a couple extras. I've 1 shot every animal for years, when I finally unloaded the pouch the brass was a liiiiiitle dingy looking.

For big game unless I was going after elk that's all I ever took as spares. For elk I carried extras and survival gear in a backpack.

Hypothetical here. Flying in for a hunt. Gun is in one case and ammo in checked luggage. When you arrive, you find out your gun arrived but you're luggage with your ammo got lost. Now what?

Never have forgotten it but I’ve sure have had it culled down before,Lol! First elk pack trip that I went on when I was green, older guys were sure serious about how much weight those horses were going to carry. Come to find out I only needed about a third of the stuff that I thought I did.

Never.....left my sleeping bag at home though.
Thankfully I remembered when we were in the last town where I could buy one before heading to camp......it was 7 degrees that night.

My dad shoots a 204 ar15 and i shoot a 6x6.8. Last Monday we went hunting and I forgot to grab his ammo. I told him if he shot a 6x6.8 we could have shared. He told me I should be shooting a 204.

Anyway the ammo was at my house which was closer than any store that would have 204 ammo at 9 o'clock at night.

I used to groundhog hunt quite a bit here in Ohio when they were still plenty in my area, ran out of work one evening down to my favorite hunting grounds at the time, popped my trunk and then suddenly realized I had not only taken ammo out of my car but my rifle as well, felt like a total homer, glanced out in a field I was going to hunt and seen a couple hogs going about there thing, only thing I could do was get back in my car and head home.
